Real stars confused by Alonso's instructions. |
According to Marca , some Real players continuously complained about the tactics deployed throughout the match. Young midfielder Dean Huijsen called on his teammates: "We always fall into a two-on-one situation, we have to support each other." Meanwhile, Vinicius Jr. was frustrated when his team kept passing the ball long: "No need to pass long anymore."
Kylian Mbappe also expressed his annoyance: "What kind of attack is this, always lacking people, always having one less person than the opponent." In midfield, two young players Arda Guler and Eduardo Camavinga even had to ask the coaching staff directly when to press and when to keep their positions.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, even Jude Bellingham and Huijsen asked goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to "stop passing the ball around indiscriminately" in the second half. This difference in tactical views partly explains why Real's attacks lacked rhythm and at times lost control of the game.
The source confirmed that this was not a negative reaction but a manifestation of initiative. The players wanted to clarify tactics to improve efficiency. Similar to the way Carlo Ancelotti used to listen to opinions from Toni Kroos or Luka Modric in big matches, Alonso is said to be still adjusting to find a formula that suits the current star squad.
Los Blancos are currently top of La Liga, but a draw with Rayo at Vallecas on November 9 showed that Alonso must quickly stabilise his playing style – or else the "internal complaints" will turn into real problems.
