In midfield, two young players Arda Guler and Eduardo Camavinga even had to ask the coaching staff directly when to press and when to keep their positions.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, even Jude Bellingham and Huijsen asked goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to "stop passing the ball around indiscriminately" in the second half. This difference in tactical views partly explains why Real's attacks lacked rhythm and at times lost control of the game.
