In that strong development flow, artistic activities play a key role in connecting tradition with modernity, fostering national spirit and nurturing the desire for power.

At the scientific conference “Orientation for the development of literature and art in the era of national development” recently organized by the Central Theoretical Council in Hanoi, many experts pointed out that the humanistic values conveyed through works of art contribute to arousing national pride; at the same time, reflecting the belief and aspiration for innovation, especially in the context of the country having all the conditions to enter an era of comprehensive development. With their profound and intimate nature, works of art, from books, plays to each musical melody… are the place where the national soul converges.

It is the voice of conscience, the spiritual strength that helps Vietnamese people overcome adversity and move towards humane and progressive values. When artistic life is closely linked to reality, it not only reflects reality but also contributes to creating a solid cultural foundation for the cause of modernization and national development.

However, along with opportunities come many challenges. One of the major risks today is the trend of commercializing art, following trivial tastes and underestimating educational and ideological functions. When artistic values are deviated from standards, art and culture can easily become a mere entertainment tool, losing its role of enlightenment and orientation, leading to the risk of eroding spiritual values. If we do not have a clear and profound awareness of the creative mission, we will miss the opportunity to form an art worthy of the times. Therefore, building a creative, open, healthy and unique art and culture ecosystem is an urgent requirement.

Many researchers have pointed out that it is necessary to continue to strongly innovate leadership thinking, improve the effectiveness of state management in the field of culture and arts; at the same time, empower organizations and individuals to actively engage in artistic activities on the basis of promoting responsible creative freedom. A developing art cannot lack a team of artists with strong political will, attached to the fate of the nation, committed to practice and nurturing the desire to contribute.

It is also necessary to emphasize the role of each individual artist, who directly creates spiritual values for society. More than ever, they must be aware of their noble mission in the new era: constantly innovating, searching for beauty, courageously speaking up for humanistic values and preserving traditional quintessence. It is from this creative spirit and love for the profession that top-notch works of art will be born, contributing to raising the status of Vietnamese culture.

An indispensable pillar is investment in the cultural industry. Culture and arts cannot develop sustainably if they only live on ideals. They need to be nurtured by appropriate policies and institutions, while flexibly adapting to market mechanisms. Prioritizing the development of industries with commercial potential and influence such as cinema, publishing, music, etc. will create more motivation for creation, thereby opening up economic potential and promoting the national image.

In the context of “the whole Party, the whole people, the whole army, from top to bottom, are of one mind”, arousing inspiration and the will to be self-reliant and self-reliant in literature and art cannot be just a slogan. It must be a concrete action, from policy strategies to each work and each creation. When artistic life is in harmony with the country, it will become a source of strong spiritual energy, accompanying the nation on the journey to realize the aspiration of great power.

Therefore, more than ever, we need a systematic strategy for developing culture and arts, both inheriting tradition and innovating, taking people as the center and culture as the foundation. That is the path for culture and arts to not only reflect but also promote society, contributing to building a Vietnam with sustainable development, rich in identity and a position in the international community.
