In the context of the country's tourism (DL) being on the path of strong recovery, An Giang proactively promotes linkages and cooperation in tourism development with Ho Chi Minh City and provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta in 2025. The charming river delta of the West

An Giang possesses a rich treasure of tourism resources, from spiritual tourism (Ba Chua Xu Temple on Sam Mountain, Hang Pagoda, Thoai Ngoc Hau Tomb) to ecological tourism (Tra Su Melaleuca Forest, Cam Mountain Tourist Area). In addition, An Giang also attracts tourists with traditional craft villages, unique cultural festivals, and unique cuisine bearing the mark of the Mekong Delta. However, to fully exploit this potential, linking and cooperating with other localities is extremely important.

2025 is considered a pivotal year, marking An Giang's strong determination in promoting tourism linkages. A series of conferences, forums, and tourism promotion programs have been implemented, gathering the participation of tourism departments, agencies, travel businesses, accommodation establishments, and related parties from Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta region. The common goal is to build unique inter-regional tours and routes, diversify products, improve service quality, and promote the tourism image of the entire region.

The highlight of this cooperation strategy is to exploit the unique advantages of each locality to create unique and attractive tourism products. An Giang, with its strengths in spiritual, ecological and cultural tourism, will combine with Ho Chi Minh City - a vibrant economic and cultural center - to create a tourism package that combines exploring nature, learning about history, culture and experiencing modern urban areas.

Ho Chi Minh City is also an important transportation and tourism hub of Vietnam. With Tan Son Nhat International Airport, the city welcomes a large number of tourists every year. Ho Chi Minh City residents also tend to travel to explore neighboring areas on weekends or holidays. This is the potential market that An Giang is aiming for.

In addition, cooperation with other provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta, such as Can Tho with river and garden tourism, Dong Thap with brilliant flower fields, Kien Giang with pristine islands... will create a chain of tourism products, meeting the diverse needs of tourists. River tourism routes connecting the Western provinces, tours to explore Khmer and Cham culture, programs to experience the region's unique cuisine... are being actively developed and promoted by travel agencies.

Promote tourism promotion activities

To realize the set goals, An Giang and its partner localities focus on investing in tourism infrastructure development. The transportation system connecting destinations is being upgraded and expanded; new accommodation facilities, restaurants, and entertainment areas are being invested in or renovated. In particular, attention is paid to training and fostering tourism human resources, aiming to improve professional qualifications, technical skills, and professional and hospitable service attitudes.

Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Trung Thanh emphasized: “The association and cooperation in tourism development with Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta regions is an inevitable step in the context of increasingly fierce tourism competition. We believe that with the joint efforts of all parties, we will create high-quality tourism products, imbued with regional cultural identity, attracting more and more tourists to An Giang and the Mekong Delta”.

This cooperation not only brings direct economic benefits to the localities, but also contributes to preserving and promoting the unique cultural, historical and natural values of the Southwest region. Tourism experts say that An Giang's proactive "joining hands" with Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta provinces is the right direction, in line with the current tourism development trend; creating a combined strength, helping the Mekong Delta region become an attractive destination.

In the future, tourists from Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring areas will have more reasons to explore An Giang, experience the differences and uniqueness of this land. The green rice fields, majestic mountains, ancient pagodas and the hospitality of An Giang people will certainly leave an unforgettable impression on tourists. The close connection with Ho Chi Minh City will be an important driving force, opening a new chapter full of potential and promise for An Giang tourism on the Vietnam tourism map.

In 2024, the cooperation program for tourism development between Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta will announce 55 river routes and 50 attractive tourist destinations. In 2025, many cooperation programs will be implemented, such as: Announcing the "Project for developing tourism products linking Ho Chi Minh City and provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta"; developing a tourism program to the source associated with the historical values of the border areas of four provinces: Long An, Dong Thap, An Giang, Kien Giang; promoting tourism between Ho Chi Minh City and provinces and cities in the Central region; promoting tourism destinations on the 3D smart map application platform of Ho Chi Minh City...
