Domestic coffee price list updated at 4:00 a.m. on December 25, 2024 |
According to the assessment, the global coffee market continues to record remarkable fluctuations, creating both opportunities and challenges for Vietnamese coffee businesses and growers.
According to international trading floors, coffee prices have been on a correction trend after peaking in mid-2024. The main reason is more abundant supply thanks to increased production in major producing countries such as Brazil and Colombia. However, inflationary pressures and high interest rates in many importing countries still maintain strong pressure on prices.
In Vietnam, domestic coffee prices also fluctuate strongly according to world developments, causing farmers and export enterprises to still face great difficulties, in which the major difficulty is the high input costs, the price of fertilizers, pesticides and labor all increase, causing great pressure on production costs.
In terms of exports, the strengthening of the US dollar has reduced purchasing power from major markets such as Europe and the US. At the same time, stricter requirements on quality standards and traceability from the EU also require Vietnamese enterprises to invest more in control and certification systems.
Despite facing many challenges, the coffee market still opens up many opportunities for Vietnamese businesses: The trend of specialty coffee, the demand for high-quality coffee with unique flavors continues to increase strongly, especially in high-end markets. Vietnam with quality coffee varieties such as Arabica from Cau Dat, Lam Dong is in a great position to take the lead in this trend.
Instead of focusing solely on exporting green coffee, many businesses are shifting to developing deeply processed products such as instant coffee and coffee capsules. This not only increases export value but also reduces dependence on fluctuations in raw coffee prices.
In addition, the Asian market has expanded, with countries such as China, South Korea and India emerging as potential coffee consumption markets with strong growth rates.
Thus, in 2024, the Vietnamese coffee industry is facing an important turning point. To take advantage of opportunities and overcome challenges, close coordination between farmers, businesses and the Government is needed. In particular, improving product quality, diversifying markets and building a national brand are key factors for Vietnamese coffee to continue to affirm its position on the world map.
