On September 22, the Dak Lak Provincial Police Investigation Agency conducted legal proceedings, initiated criminal proceedings, prosecuted and temporarily detained Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hoang, born in 1977, Head of the Department of Nephrology and Urology, and Mr. Bui Ngoc Duc, born in 1974, Head of the Department of Surgery and Anesthesia and Resuscitation, Central Highlands General Hospital for the crime of "Abusing position and power while performing official duties" as prescribed in Clause 2, Article 356 of the Penal Code.
According to the initial investigation results, during the period from March 28, 2024 to May 15, 2024 and from May 28, 2024 to December 31, 2024, at the Central Highlands General Hospital, the laser lithotripsy machine was broken and could not be used, but Mr. Hoang and Mr. Duc still ordered the endoscopic lithotripsy procedure to be performed against the procedure, recording on 255 medical records that the techniques were performed with the laser machine. Of which, 235 records covered by health insurance were paid 273,924,150 VND by Dak Lak Provincial Social Insurance, with the patient paying 33,153,450 VND; 20 records not covered by insurance, with the patient paying 25,940,000 VND; At the same time, the hospital paid for surgery and procedures for 255 records worth 60,324,000 VND.
