According to information from the police, due to a lack of money, Chau Soc Kia conceived the idea of stealing other people's property to sell for cash. Around 3 PM on November 27, 2025, taking advantage of the fact that Ms. T.'s family in Phu Hoa hamlet, Tinh Bien ward, An Giang province, was at work and no one was watching the house, Chau Soc Kia broke in and stole a handbag containing 70 million VND and 10.5 taels of 18-karat gold.
Upon receiving a report from the victim, the Tinh Bien Ward Police arrived at the scene to verify, investigate, and screen suspected individuals. Using professional investigative methods, the Tinh Bien Ward Police identified Chau Soc Kia as the perpetrator of the theft.
At the police station, confronted with the evidence, Chau Soc Kia admitted to stealing property from Ms. T.'s house and also confessed to four other thefts in Tinh Bien ward. The total value of the stolen property is estimated at approximately 500 million VND.
Chau Soc Kia is a repeat offender with two prior convictions for theft, whose criminal record has not yet been expunged, and he has committed another offense.
The case is currently being investigated, clarified, and handled by the An Giang Provincial Police Investigation Agency in accordance with the law.
