As reported by Nhan Dan Newspaper, the Ministry of Health has just issued Circular No. 26/2025/TT-BYT dated June 30, 2025 regulating prescriptions and the prescription of pharmaceutical and biological drugs in outpatient treatment at medical examination and treatment facilities. Accordingly, patients will be given medicine every 3 months instead of once a month as before. This Circular takes effect from July 1.
At the Breast Clinic of K Hospital, many patients could not hide their joy and excitement when they received the information that they would be given medicine every 3 months instead of once a month as before.
Ms. Le Thi T. (43 years old, Hung Yen) shared: “In 2024, I was diagnosed with stage 2 endocrine breast cancer. I was hospitalized for surgery and then treated with 6 chemotherapy doses. At the end of 2024, I was transferred to the Radiation Department, received 15 radiation sessions and was instructed to go home for monitoring and regular check-ups. According to the check-up schedule, I go to the hospital every 3 months. However, the treatment medication must be taken monthly. Every month, I have to take a day off to go to Hanoi to get the medicine, it is really tiring.
This time when I went for a check-up, the hospital informed me that they were implementing the new Circular of the Ministry of Health on the provision of medicine to patients, and that we were given medicine every 3 months. I was really happy and excited. This is a great support from the Ministry of Health and the K Hospital for patients. Now I no longer have to worry about having to travel to Hanoi every month to get medicine, and I don't have to be tired and stressed every time I go to the hospital, wait for a long time, and spend a lot of money on travel and food."
Sharing the same excitement and joy as Ms. T., Ms. Nguyen Thi M. (Tuyen Quang) said that she had breast cancer and had surgery in 2023, received 8 rounds of chemotherapy, along with targeted drugs. Currently, her condition is stable, so she only comes for regular check-ups every 3 months. However, because she still needs to take hormonal drugs, Ms. M. still has to travel from her hometown to the city to get the medicine every month.
“Traveling to the hospital to get medicine for treatment usually takes a whole day, I have to take time off work to have enough time. When I received information that the hospital would support patients to get medicine every 3 months, I was really surprised and happy. Because that is the wish, the desire of each of us patients when it comes to getting medicine, especially those from out-of-town areas like us, who do not have enough conditions or time to travel too much to the city or hospital,” Ms. M. expressed.
The female patient also thanked the Ministry of Health, the leaders and doctors of K Hospital for having timely solutions to reduce the pressure of travel and costs for patients each time they have to travel to get medicine.

Not only patients, doctors at K Hospital also said that this is a positive change, contributing to reducing pressure not only for patients but also for staff, doctors and nurses. Patients can reduce travel time to get medicine, saving a lot of money. At the same time, staff, medical staff and doctors will also reduce pressure on the problem of patient overload, improving productivity, efficiency and quality of medical examination and treatment.
Master, Doctor Nguyen Ba Tinh - Head of Social Work Department, K Hospital said, with the new points of Circular 26/2025/TT-BYT, K Hospital clearly sees this as a breakthrough in modernizing the health care process, improving the quality of medical services and improving the patient experience.
“Applying prescriptions for patients according to Circular 26/2025/TT-BYT not only improves the effectiveness of patient care, creates favorable conditions for doctors and medical staff, but also reduces the pressure on patients when coming to see a doctor, receive medicine for treatment, especially for patients living in provinces far from Hanoi city,” shared Dr. Nguyen Ba Tinh.
According to Dr. Tinh, previously, during the complicated development of the Covid-19 epidemic, the Ministry of Health allowed an extension of the time for drug distribution to reduce travel and the risk of infection for patients. Up to now, this policy has been formalized through Circular 26/2025/TT-BYT, bringing many practical benefits, both for patients and medical staff.
