Zero tolerance for harmful content online

Recently, many social networking platforms have tightened content censorship, thereby reducing harmful and illegal information.

However, nonsense, vulgar, and even dangerous content - especially fabricated information, mixed truth and falsehood, and scientific and historical errors - tends to increase.

As a precaution, many parents choose to completely ban their children from accessing content on social networks. However, this unintentionally causes children to lose the opportunity for healthy entertainment and access to useful sources of knowledge.

The reasonable solution is to let children watch online content under parental control. Currently, there are features and applications that support filtering and directing children to healthy content, such as Google Family Link, Qustodio, Kaspersky Safe Kids, VNPT Family Safe... However, the most effective solution is that every day, when children come home from school or on holidays, parents should spend some time with their children watching online content. Thereby, parents can promptly detect offensive content, thereby directing children to other more suitable channels.

While traditional YouTube has been quite effective in controlling content, YouTube Shorts has revealed many worrying problems. This may stem from the ease of content production on this platform, along with the vertical video format suitable for smartphones, making Shorts spread quickly and more difficult to control.

The pressure to chase views and posting frequency has forced many channel owners to find ways to produce clips, regardless of quality and negative impact on viewers. The content creation force on Shorts and TikTok is also wider and more popular, almost anyone can do it thanks to "instant noodle" support tools. Therefore, content on the platforms is often easy, with the risk of negative impact on children. In reality, the expectation of calling on the community to join hands to clean up content on social networks has not yet brought the desired results. The management of the platforms also mainly focuses on content that violates the law and community regulations, while many ugly, nonsense, and misleading content still slips through and exists widely. It is time for authorities and social organizations to thoroughly prevent bad content on social networks.
