The maple forest is attracting many tourists and photographers from all over the world who come to admire the scenery and take pictures.
According to Huy Vo (25 years old), a freelance photographer and member of the Vietnam Agricultural Tourism Cooperative - Khe Sanh, the maple forest is at its most beautiful at this time, and the weather is also favorable for outdoor activities. However, after the recent heavy rains, the water in the hydroelectric reservoir is still murky and not yet clear.

Since the end of November, many tourists have contacted Huy to inquire about the weather, the condition of the maple leaves changing color, and the experiences available in the area.
The colorful forest scenery, reflected in the water of the hydroelectric lake, has led many tourists to compare it to the beauty of Europe.

Lành Lành (from Quảng Trị province) has visited Hướng Phùng maple forest three times, but she is still captivated by its unique and peaceful beauty.

The photos shared by Ms. Lanh received a lot of interaction on social media. Ms. Lanh suggested that tourists could sit in boats, paddle SUPs on the hydroelectric lake to admire the maple forest, or hike through the forest and camp overnight.
The forest boasts a pristine beauty, largely untouched by tourism , making it ideal for those seeking tranquility and wanting to immerse themselves in nature.
This scenery is only visible for a short period, from December to the end of January. The best time of day to view the forest is at sunrise or sunset.
Deep in the forest, visitors can find green meadows interspersed with streams flowing into lakes..., making it an ideal place for groups to camp.

Scientifically, the fragrant maple tree is also known as the Sau Sau or White Sandalwood. The Sau Sau tree has a tall, thick, and straight trunk, with opaque white bark that has mottled gray spots. Therefore, in winter, the scenery here looks similar to the birch forests in some Western countries.

According to Huy's experience, the end of the year is when Quang Tri usually experiences rain and cold weather. Tourists should monitor the weather forecast and choose dry days with mild sunshine for a smooth and safe trip.
This area is still very pristine and lacks many developed tourist services. Therefore, visitors from afar should seek out guides or local people for directions, tour bookings, etc.

Tourists can combine their itinerary with exploring Huong Phung and Khe Sanh, experiencing the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail, and enjoying the cuisine of the Van Kieu ethnic group.

Mesmerized by the sea of clouds on the 'roof' of Quang Tri: At an altitude of over 1,700m, Pa Thien and Voi Mep are two nearby peaks considered the "roof" of Quang Tri province, with stunning natural scenery, making them a wonderful place to chase clouds.
