The event aims to evaluate the results of the arrangement and consolidation of the agricultural extension system according to the two-level local government model according to Circular No. 60/2025/TT-BNNMT. At the same time, officially deploy the National Agricultural Extension Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2050.

The Conference is an opportunity to summarize agricultural extension experiences, spread effective models and create an innovative and creative ecosystem towards green, circular and smart agriculture.

Introducing typical agricultural products of Lam Dong province at the Conference

In recent times, agricultural extension work has made important contributions to improving productivity, quality and value of agricultural products; promoting the conversion of crop and livestock structures suitable to climate and market; expanding value chain linkages, and enhancing digital capacity for farmers and cooperatives.

According to the Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, in recent years, the agricultural extension system has played a very important role. It is a direct and practical bridge to bring technical advances and new technologies to farmers in all fields of cultivation, livestock and aquaculture, contributing significantly to the province's outstanding agricultural achievements.

Currently, implementing the major policy of arranging 2-level local government, Lam Dong is actively and proactively implementing the improvement of the agricultural extension system according to the new model. In particular, arranging a streamlined, effective and efficient agricultural extension system, with close connection between the provincial and communal levels through grassroots public service units, is the key to promoting sustainable agriculture, improving people's lives, contributing to the economic development of Lam Dong province...

At the Conference, managers, scientists, businesses and local representatives exchanged and shared experiences, and agreed on action directions for a professional, open, creative and effective agricultural extension system. Thereby, affirming the central role of farmers - creative subjects in agricultural and rural development, as a source of inspiration for policies and programs for sustainable agricultural development in the coming time.

At the same time, it is affirmed that Vietnam's agricultural extension has made many innovations in terms of content, methods and organization. The issuance and implementation of Circular No. 60/2025/TT-BNNMT is an important turning point, creating a new legal framework and operating mechanism, ensuring connectivity and synchronization between levels, especially at the grassroots level.

By 2025, the whole country will have formed more than 5,100 community agricultural extension groups with nearly 50,000 members, affirming the effectiveness of the model of "agricultural extension to villages and hamlets", contributing to bringing policies and scientific and technical advances closer to farmers.

The conference also called for the active participation of all levels, sectors, business communities, socio-political organizations and media agencies, to join hands in spreading the spirit of innovation and arousing the desire to rise up. Thereby, creating a combined strength for agricultural extension to truly become a bridge between the State, scientists, businesses and farmers - the four pillars of modern agriculture.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Thanh Nam requested that provinces and cities be more proactive and urgent to soon complete the arrangement and consolidation of the agricultural extension system according to the two-level government model as directed by the General Secretary.

Commune-level agricultural extension has a very heavy task. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to arranging commune-level agricultural extension officers with the right expertise, suitable to the scale of production and specific conditions of each locality.

At the same time, it is necessary to issue regulations on coordination of agricultural extension work to ensure continuous and effective agricultural extension activities.

Leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment also requested provinces and cities to focus on comprehensively innovating agricultural extension work according to agricultural economic thinking, taking farmers as the subject and center of the development process.

Provinces and cities need Strengthen and promote the role of the state agricultural extension system in orienting activities, mobilizing resources and connecting parties to serve the political and strategic goals and tasks of agricultural, farmer and rural development.
