Kia EV6 2025 GT-Line AWD: Worthwhile upgrade, fast charging

The 2025 upgrade adds an 84 kWh battery, NACS charging standard, automatic door handles, and chassis tweaks. The GT-Line AWD has 320 horsepower, a range of 270 miles, and a 10–80% charge in under 20 minutes.

The 2025 Kia EV6 continues to focus on charging performance and driving experience. The GT-Line AWD tested uses an 84 kWh battery, 320 horsepower, 440 lb-ft of torque, a range of about 270 miles (~434 km), and DC fast charging from 10–80% in under 20 minutes (ideal conditions can be under 18 minutes). The car switches to the NACS charging standard and is immediately compatible with about 20,000 Tesla Supercharger stations.

Refined look, small but effective details

The 2025 EV6 gets a new front end design based on the Tiger Nose philosophy, along with improved headlights for better long-range illumination. The low and long body proportions evoke a modern wagon shape, different from the square, friendly style of the Hyundai Ioniq 5. The most useful change is the door handles: now automatically pop out on all versions, replacing the previous push-push mechanism that was often inconvenient.

Solid chassis, new tires, reduced vibration and noise

Driving experience shows a more solid body, less vibration and a quieter cabin. The new Continental tires provide better grip and comfort than the previous Kumho set. With 320 horsepower, the EV6 offers a lively driving feel, quick and precise response when cornering, aimed at users who like a dynamic experience.

800V E-GMP platform and fast charging advantages

The EV6 2025 continues to use the 800V E-GMP electrical architecture (shared with the EV9, Ioniq 5, Ioniq 9…), optimized for DC fast charging. The large battery achieves a maximum charging capacity of 240 kW; ideal conditions allow charging from 10–80% in less than 18 minutes. On the Tesla Supercharger network (NACS standard), the time to 80% is about 30 minutes, in return for immediate access to about 20,000 stations, helping to reduce the pressure of finding a charging place in reality.

Battery and range: clear configurations

Kia has increased battery capacity across the range: the base Light model gets a 63 kWh battery; higher models get an 84 kWh battery. Maximum range is around 319 miles (~513 km) with rear-wheel drive, while the Wind AWD gets around 295 miles (~475 km). The GT-Line AWD tested has a range of around 270 miles (~434 km). These figures reflect the improvement in distance traveled between charges in various configurations.

Practical cabin, familiar interface

The EV6 retains many physical buttons – a good choice for those switching from an internal combustion engine to an electric vehicle. The interior materials are good for the price. However, the function switch between air conditioning and audio can be confusing when operated quickly. Sound insulation is improved along with the overall solidity of the body.

Software and connectivity: useful additions, still room for improvement

The software has been upgraded for the new generation of Hyundai-Kia EVs, adding battery tracking and customization, power monitoring, usage charts, and fast-charging conditions. The phone app is still slow, the third-party app store is limited, and the navigation system sometimes suggests confusing routes. A big plus is that Apple CarPlay and Android Auto now support wireless connectivity.

Price, assembly and market picture

The 2025 EV6 is assembled at the West Point plant in Georgia, USA. Although federal tax incentives are no longer available, manufacturing in the US helps to consolidate supply. Starting prices are listed at around $42,000–$42,900 depending on configuration; GT-Line AWD from $58,000. Other reference prices include: Light Long Range RWD $46,200, Light Long Range AWD $50,300, Wind AWD $54,300. The high-performance EV6 GT is still produced in Korea.

In the US mainstream electric SUV segment in 2025, the Tesla Model Y continues to lead. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 sold twice as much as the EV6 in 2024; the Ford Mustang Mach-E and several GM EVs also outsold the EV6. However, according to the review author (insideevs), after a week of actual use, the 2025 EV6 has overcome many of its previous weaknesses and deserves more attention.

Conclude

The 2025 EV6 shows how Kia has focused on what users can feel: class-leading 800V fast charging, broad NACS compatibility, improved NVH, and practical conveniences like power door handles. With a competitive price and a wide range of versions, this is an electric SUV worth considering in the mass segment, especially for those who prioritize charging performance and a clean driving experience.
