Creating new bridges in the Vietnam - Japan supporting industry

(DN) - In the picture of strong transformation of supporting industry, Dong Nai is emerging as a strategic destination for Japanese enterprises. The center of that cooperation network is the Dong Nai Province Supporting Industry Development Promotion Coordinator Group (Coordinator Group) - a flexible, proactive connection model that is increasingly showing its influence through substantial results.

Not only stopping at the scope within the province, recently, the Coordinating Team has expanded the survey to neighboring localities; at the same time working directly with Japanese enterprises in Dong Nai industrial zones. These trips seem to be just capacity tests but in fact are strategic exploration steps, aiming to build trust, understanding and lay the foundation for long-term cooperation between Vietnamese and Japanese enterprises.

Steps to expand the "connection range"

In the recent survey, the Coordinating Team's working group worked directly with two enterprises in Thoi An Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, namely Thinh Phat Precision Mechanical Co., Ltd. and Vietlabel Trading Production Joint Stock Company. These are enterprises representing two different slices of Vietnam's supporting industry: one side is high technology, the other side is the innovative spirit of the young generation of enterprises.

At Thinh Phat Precision Mechanical Co., Ltd., the delegation focused on reviewing data, evaluating the production process and recording the core difficulties of the enterprise. The survey results showed that Thinh Phat possesses a capacity that few Vietnamese enterprises can achieve: processing ultra-small mechanical components from 0.5-32mm, meeting the strict standards of the Japanese precision industry.

Mr. Pham Anh Tuyen, Deputy Director of Thinh Phat Precision Mechanical Co., Ltd. shared: “We always strive to improve according to Japanese standards. But as a small and medium-sized enterprise, it is very difficult to find an outlet on our own. The support of Dong Nai and promotion organizations is an "extended arm" that helps us reach the right Japanese customers - those who value stability and standards more than anything else."

The Coordinators assessed Thinh Phat as one of the businesses with the potential to quickly participate in the Japanese supply chain when connected in the right direction and with the right needs.

For Vietlabel Trading and Production Joint Stock Company, the delegation noted a very different spirit: enthusiasm, perseverance and aspiration for development of a young enterprise after the pandemic. Vietlabel maintains its core team, builds a stable corporate culture and is entering a period of strong development.

Mr. Pham Tuan Thien, CEO of Vietlabel said: “We are preparing to expand our factory into an industrial park, aiming to export and access the Japanese market. What Vietlabel needs most right now is advice on factory standards, processes and management according to Japanese standards. The survey helped us clearly see what needs to be upgraded to integrate more deeply."

These shares clearly reflect the reality: young businesses are making efforts to "standardize" to approach international standards, and the Coordinating Group is an important accompanying force - providing information, consulting, connecting and opening the door for Vietnamese businesses to get closer to the Japanese market.

In parallel with the survey in Ho Chi Minh City, the Coordinating Team also worked with a Japanese enterprise located in Long Duc Industrial Park, Dong Nai province, which is Takashima Metal Precision Vietnam Co., Ltd. - an enterprise specializing in manufacturing JIS standard screws, CNC machining, cold stamping, hot forging and metal parts.

Here, Mr. Yamamoto Ryo, Director of Takashima said: The company is increasing the localization rate, hoping to find a Vietnamese supplier with enough capacity to reduce logistics costs, proactively source materials and speed up production progress. We check 100% of products before shipping. Therefore, finding a supplier that meets Japanese standards in the Vietnamese market is a top priority in the coming time.

The survey helps the province better understand the difficulties of FDI enterprises, from recruiting highly skilled workers to the cost of imported components, thereby providing practical support solutions.

Promoting Vietnam - Japan cooperation bridge

Not only surveying businesses, Dong Nai is also actively preparing for the Trade Connection Conference between Vietnamese and Japanese businesses in 2025 on November 21, 2025 and the Dong Nai - Ehime (Japan) Trade Conference scheduled to take place in January 2026.

During a recent reception for the Ehime province delegation, Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Kim Long emphasized: "Dong Nai hopes that Ehime will promote strategic industries signed since 2018 such as supporting industries, semiconductors, aviation, electronic equipment and smart technology transfer".

Ehime affirmed that Dong Nai is a locality that is attracting more and more attention from Japanese enterprises, especially in the field of industrial production.

Not only attracting strong attention from Ehime province, Dong Nai also made a clear impression on Japanese economic agencies at the regional level, especially the Kansai Economic, Trade and Industry Bureau (METI-Kansai) - one of the largest and most influential industrial centers in Japan.

Mr. Morishita Tsuyoshi, Deputy Director of METI-Kansai, highly appreciated Dong Nai's efforts in proactively and substantially implementing supporting industry connection activities that meet the needs of Japanese enterprises. Mr. Morishita Tsuyoshi affirmed: "Kansai highly appreciates Dong Nai's efforts in building a transparent and professional supporting industry ecosystem. The province's proactive survey of enterprises and listening to the needs of both Vietnam and Japan shows an approach that meets the expectations of Japanese enterprises."

Mr. Morishita Tsuyoshi said that Dong Nai is forming a replicable cooperation model, when harmoniously combining the capacity of Vietnamese enterprises, the needs of Japanese enterprises, and the effective connecting role of the Coordinating Group. This once again affirms Dong Nai's increasingly clear position in Vietnam - Japan cooperation and opens up prospects for in-depth connections in the field of supporting industries. Deputy Head of the Coordinating Group Nguyen Huu Duc said: "We connect to create real value. Each surveyed enterprise is an important link in completing the Vietnam - Japan supply chain in Dong Nai".

From field trips to preparations for Vietnam-Japan trade conferences, it can be seen that Dong Nai is steadfastly pursuing a clear cooperation strategy: Expanding the partnership ecosystem for Japanese enterprises, while elevating Vietnamese enterprises to enter global supply chains. On that foundation, the province focuses on building a transparent, standardized and sustainable cooperation environment, in line with the requirements of international investors.

The quiet but effective activities of the Coordinating Team are contributing to affirming Dong Nai's position as a dynamic supporting industry center of the South. With a methodical approach and high determination, Dong Nai not only attracts investment, but also creates an environment for Vietnamese and Japanese enterprises to work together, together enhancing their capacity and value in the regional market.

The Dong Nai Province Supporting Industry Development Coordinator Group, established in May 2019 following the Japanese model, plays the role of a “bridge” between Japanese enterprises and enterprises and training institutions in the province. The group regularly organizes surveys, meetings and connects with actual needs, helping to promote effective cooperation in the field of supporting industries.

Since the beginning of 2025, the team has worked with more than 30 Vietnamese-Japanese enterprises in Dong Nai and neighboring areas, thereby forming many cooperation models such as "supply - technology transfer - product acquisition". Vietnamese enterprises are supported to upgrade processes according to Japanese standards, while Japanese enterprises are provided with transparent information, introduced to suitable partners and have their investment difficulties resolved.
