In response to the call of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front , the Standing Delegation of Vietnam in Geneva, Switzerland, in response to the serious damage caused by natural disasters and floods in the Central and Central Highlands provinces last November, the Vietnamese Permanent Delegation in Geneva, Switzerland, has called on Vietnamese associations and communities in Geneva and neighboring states to donate to support people in areas affected by natural disasters.
On November 27, 2025, the Permanent Mission of Vietnam in Geneva held a meeting to provide updated information to overseas Vietnamese on the natural disaster and flood situation in the Central and Central Highlands provinces of Vietnam. Mr. Cung Duc Han, Chargé d'Affaires of the Mission, provided information on the damage caused by floods, the timely efforts of the Party, State and Government to overcome the damage caused by floods, and soon restore the lives of people in affected areas, as well as the support of international partners and organizations for Vietnam.
"The kindness of our overseas Vietnamese has always been a great spiritual support for our compatriots in the country. The tradition of "mutual love" and "helping each other" has never faded, and every contribution, big or small, is extremely meaningful," said Mr. Cung Duc Han.
As of November 27, 2025, the Permanent Mission of Vietnam in Geneva has received from overseas Vietnamese to support victims affected by natural disasters and floods in the Central and Central Highlands provinces the amount of 6,150 CHF, 1,600 Euros and 400 USD. The above amount will be transferred by the Mission to the Central Relief Mobilization Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
In addition, implementing the direction of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , the Vietnamese Mission in Geneva is also implementing diplomatic measures to mobilize the international community to support people in flood-hit areas. The Mission has sent diplomatic notes and worked directly with international organizations in Geneva such as the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and a number of other agencies to request urgent assistance for Vietnam to overcome the consequences of floods.
The organizations all share the difficulties of the Vietnamese people and pledge to mobilize all possible resources to support. Specifically, IFRC said it has activated an emergency support package; WHO affirmed that it will disburse funds from the Emergency Contingency Fund for life-saving activities and to protect people's health; WMO also said it is conducting on-site assessments to provide support to Vietnam.
