There are reports that the team of Donald Trump, the next US president for the 2025-2029 term, is discussing a new plan to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

On November 7, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) quoted sources as saying that the new plan includes several key points: a ceasefire and the creation of a demilitarized zone along the front line. However, the question of who will ensure security in this area remains open.
“We’re not sending Americans to keep the peace in Ukraine,” said an anonymous member of Trump’s team. “And we’re not paying for it. Get the Poles, the Germans, the British, the French.”
For its part, Ukraine will pledge not to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) for the next 20 years. In return, the US will continue to supply weapons to Ukraine.
In addition, the US is ready to provide military training and other forms of assistance, but the main participation in peacekeeping operations will belong to Europe.
According to the WSJ , this plan is similar to the way Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance, Trump's running mate, described it in September. However, WSJ sources said that Trump has not yet approved any plan.
In June, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed a peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine, saying Moscow would immediately cease fire and declare its readiness for negotiations after Ukrainian troops withdrew from the territories annexed by Russia.
In addition, Kiev should declare its abandonment of NATO membership and also carry out demilitarization and de-Nazification, as well as accept a neutral, non-aligned and non-nuclear status. The Russian leader also mentioned the lifting of sanctions against Moscow.
A day earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the US could help end the conflict in Ukraine, but whether they would do so would have to wait until after Trump took office.
“This, of course, cannot be done overnight. But since it is the United States that provokes and constantly fuels this conflict and is directly involved in it, then yes, Washington has the ability to change this trajectory of its foreign policy,” Peskov said.
