This is a great honor for the athlete from Quang Binh when for the second consecutive time he is the flag bearer leading the Vietnamese Sports Delegation in the parade at the opening ceremony of the largest sports event in the region. The General Director of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, Head of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation to the 32nd SEA Games, Dang Ha Viet, personally announced this decision on the afternoon of April 20.

At the 31st SEA Games, Nguyen Huy Hoang was chosen at the last minute to replace fencer Vu Thanh An as the flag bearer leading the Vietnamese delegation into My Dinh Stadium at the opening ceremony. Vu Thanh An then switched the task of reading the oath with Huy Hoang. This time, the responsibility was given while Nguyen Huy Hoang was still training in Hungary, preparing to return home to attend the 32nd SEA Games.
