Cross the river to bring food back to the village
The floods have just ended, but many roads leading to mountainous communes are still littered with rocks and soil. Landslides have isolated many areas, and broken bridges and culverts have yet to be repaired.
Faced with this situation, the authorities and the mountain communities mobilized forces to participate in the work of leveling and temporarily repairing the road, and to carry tons of food to isolated residential areas. In some localities with severe landslides, because it was impossible to carry goods by road, the commune authorities flexibly deployed the plan to approach by boat along the river.

A few days ago, when the road to To Po village (Ben Giang commune) was seriously eroded, traffic was completely cut off, the commune government urgently mobilized all resources to supply food and rescue isolated people. But at that time, because the road was cut off, there was no other way, the police and militia forces had to come up with a plan to transport relief goods by river and carry goods through the forest to supply, with the motto "no one should go hungry during the rainy days".
For many hours, the forces used boats and canoes to move along the Song Bung 4 hydroelectric reservoir to bring rice, dried fish and necessities to the foot of the mountain. From here, the village's shock force coordinated with the support forces, carrying goods through many kilometers of forest roads to bring relief goods to the people of To Po. After many days of isolation, when the food and necessities were placed, dozens of Co Tu households in To Po village expressed their emotions and helped the force to carefully arrange them before being handed over.

Mr. Zoram Thinh, Head of To Po village, said that despite the difficult life during the days of isolation, people always promoted the spirit of community solidarity. Each family encouraged each other to try their best, sharing cans of rice and bundles of vegetables. “Today, we received timely support from the People's Committee of Ben Giang commune in terms of rice and necessities, helping people feel more secure during the days of traffic disruption,” Mr. Zoram Thinh shared.
According to Mr. Chau Ngoc Vinh, Chairman of Ben Giang Commune People's Committee, in addition to providing food, to ensure that the learning of children in isolated areas is not interrupted, the commune's forces and teachers brought more than 20 students from To Po village across mountains and rivers to get to school. Recently, in addition to efforts to overcome landslides, the commune government has continued to maintain regular relief transportation work, ensuring stable living conditions for the people.

"Don't let people go hungry"
After the flood, Hung Son commune was almost completely cut off due to serious landslides. After understanding the situation, immediately after temporarily opening the road, Hung Son commune mobilized forces, coordinated with Tr'Hy Border Guard Station to organize the transportation of food, provisions and necessities to supply 47 households/172 Co Tu people in Arieu village.
Mr. Nguyen Van Ky, Standing Vice Chairman of Hung Son Commune People's Committee, said that for many days, the locality has been almost paralyzed by landslides. While the natural disaster was raging, fortunately, thanks to the previous initiative, the work of evacuating people and moving houses was closely implemented, especially the preparation of food and provisions. During the isolation period, the local government encouraged people to promote the spirit of solidarity, helping each other overcome difficulties before the commune had a plan to support and supply food.

“The locality’s viewpoint is to closely monitor and grasp the situation in isolated areas to provide timely support and prevent people from going hungry. Therefore, along with efforts to overcome the consequences of floods, the commune assigned forces to urgently approach people in residential areas to have appropriate support plans to help people stabilize their lives,” said Mr. Ky.
In Avuong commune, Chairman of the People's Committee of Briu Quan commune said that the trips to reach people in isolated areas, in addition to providing food, were also to survey the situation, especially at areas with serious landslides. From there, solutions were proposed to overcome and "rebuild" community life after the natural disaster.
In recent days, in addition to opening roads to bring more than 11 tons of food to people, taking advantage of the sunny weather, the locality has carried out disinfection spraying in all residential areas, village roads and alleys, especially in Ateép village, the area where the recent landslide occurred. "The disinfection spraying aims to ensure environmental hygiene, prevent disease outbreaks after natural disasters, and contribute to stabilizing people's lives," said Mr. Briu Quan.
