Thanks to proper care from the beginning of the season, the entire rice crop in the commune is growing and developing well and is currently in the stage of preparing to flower.
However, since the beginning of the season, many types of pests and diseases have appeared in the spring rice crop of the commune, such as: small leaf-rolling caterpillars, stem borers, blast disease, black spot disease, bacterial leaf streak disease… reaching levels that require organized control measures.

In response to the situation, the People's Committee of the commune contracted with Nicotex Hanoi Joint Stock Company to organize the spraying of pesticides using unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) in the fields where mechanized production of high-quality TBR 225 rice is being carried out. Simultaneously, they instructed farmers to proactively control pests and diseases in other rice fields. Currently, the entire area of spring rice in the commune is growing and developing well.
According to Mr. Vu Tri Dong, Deputy Head of the Crop Production and Plant Protection Sub-Department (Department of Agriculture and Environment), from the beginning of the spring crop season until now, pests and diseases affecting rice have been distributed over a narrow area and the level of damage is less severe than in the same period of 2025.
According to the inspection results of the Sub-Department, nearly 13,000 out of 71,800 hectares of rice fields in the province were infected with various pests and diseases such as rats, blast disease, bacterial stripe disease, black kernel disease, brown spot disease, stem borer, etc., mainly distributed in the communes of Yen The, Dong Ky, Thuan Thanh, Nhan Thang, Song Lieu, and Lang Giang...
The Sub-Department advised the Department of Agriculture and Environment to issue a directive urging localities to implement pest control measures on an area of approximately 25,000 hectares. As a result, the entire rice crop in the province has been protected and is entering the heading and flowering stages.
In early May, due to changing climatic conditions, the influence of two weak cold fronts, and large temperature differences between day and night, it is predicted that pests and diseases affecting the late-season spring rice crop may increase in density, rate, and severity. In particular, timely control of the third generation of rice leaf roller, planthopper colonies, two-spotted stem borer, rice blast, black kernel disease, and bacterial leaf blight is necessary.
