| Authorities participate in extinguishing a fishing boat fire in Hai Tien residential area, Thuan An ward. |
According to initial information, at approximately 11 PM on April 21st, while the fishing vessel TTH 45759TS, owned by Mr. Duong Hai (born 1975; residing in Hai Tien Hamlet), was anchored at a frozen ice production facility in Hai Tien Hamlet, preparing to set sail, it suddenly caught fire. The flames erupted and immediately engulfed the entire vessel.
As soon as the fire was discovered, the fishing boat owner and local residents arrived to extinguish the flames. However, at the time of the fire, the boat had about 1,800 liters of fuel that the owner had just added in preparation for going out to sea, so the fire burned even more fiercely, posing a risk of spreading to nearby fishing boats and fish farms.
According to the leaders of Thuan An Ward People's Committee, immediately after the incident occurred, the local authorities directed initial fire prevention and control efforts. The burning vessel was moved further offshore by other fishing boats to ensure the safety of the fish cages and fishing vessels. The Fire and Rescue Police of Hue City also dispatched vehicles and personnel to handle the situation promptly and brought the fire under control.
Reportedly, the fishing vessel did not have hull insurance, so it would not be covered by insurance for fire damage. Before setting sail, the owner had to borrow 50 million VND to buy fuel.
