Miss "broken" study halfway
After being crowned Miss Universe Vietnam 2024 and 10 years since being crowned Miss Vietnam, Ky Duyen has encountered many controversies surrounding the issue of education.
10 years ago, at the time of her coronation as Miss Vietnam, Ky Duyen was a first-year student in the Foreign Economic Relations Department of the Foreign Trade University in Hanoi. Two years later, she moved to Ho Chi Minh City to study at the second campus of the university to further her career.

Since then, there has been a lot of buzz about her not graduating from college.
A representative of Foreign Trade University said that according to training regulations, after completing the maximum training time allowed for each course or program, if students do not accumulate enough credits or do not meet the graduation requirements, they will not be considered and recognized for graduation.
Student Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen (Miss Ky Duyen) belongs to this case.
Female students go to university, become beauty queens and then "discontinue" their studies halfway, this formula actually does not only happen to Ky Duyen.
There have been many female students who, after becoming beauty queens, failed to meet training requirements and were forced to drop out of school.
Most recently, beauty queen Bui Quynh Hoa was forced to drop out of school at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Theater and Cinema for violating academic regulations.
Miss Bui Quynh Hoa studied film directing in the 12A course at the University of Theater and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City. However, after enrolling, this female student "skipped" the entire first semester of the 2023-2024 school year.

Previously, also a student at the University of Theater and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City, Miss Universe Vietnam 2019 Nguyen Tran Khanh Van caused a stir in public opinion with the news of being forced to drop out of university.
Van Khanh is said to have put her university studies on hold to compete in a beauty pageant but exceeded the time limit.
Miss Universe Vietnam 2022 Nguyen Thi Ngoc Chau also admitted that she could not graduate and get a bachelor's degree in Biotechnology from Ton Duc Thang University.
Ngoc Chau won the title of Vietnam's Next Top Model 2016, Miss Supranational Vietnam 2018, Miss Supranational Asia 2019 and Miss Universe Vietnam 2022. She represented Vietnam in the Top 10 of Miss Supranational 2019.
According to information from Ton Duc Thang University, the reason for the forced expulsion was that Ngoc Chau had exceeded the maximum time allowed to study at the school according to regulations.
Misses find it difficult to concentrate on studying.
Ms. Nguyen Minh An, a lecturer at a university in Ho Chi Minh City, said she was not surprised by the cases of beauties and beauty queens being forced to drop out of school.
To achieve these titles, you have to spend a lot of time and effort on beauty contests. After being crowned, you have many activities and opportunities to develop, so it is not easy to concentrate on studying.
For her, only those who are determined to pursue their studies in a clear and balanced way, even refusing many other activities and opportunities, can ensure their studies in the classroom.
The education of beauty queens has also been a topic of much debate for a long time. Pursuing an academic path or taking a different path, according to Ms. An, is a personal choice, not just for beauty queens.

For many people, their path to success has many other opportunities that do not necessarily require a college degree.
"Do beauty queens need a university degree? To me, that is a question that should not be asked because no one can answer it except the person themselves. Some people find it necessary, some people find it unnecessary, and no one outside can answer for them," said Ms. Nguyen Minh An.
In a beauty contest, having a university degree is an advantage, however, according to the regulations of most beauty contests today, a university degree is not a mandatory requirement.
Learning is now open and no longer limited to universities or university degrees. Everyone can learn and improve on their own journey and path.
Even going to a beauty pageant requires studying, and can be done if you want to and have the desire to learn.
In a discussion about the beauty of Vietnamese women, a philosophy professor said that Vietnamese women are increasingly gaining autonomy over their beauty and bodies. This is a positive sign.
According to her, beauty always needs to be encouraged and respected, but at the same time, it is necessaryto educate young people to understand that beauty must also have qualities, beauty must go hand in hand with knowledge, beauty must go hand in hand with self-control.
To have knowledge and independence, everyone must learn, not just women, not just beauties or beauty queens. This learning is not limited to university or lecture halls, but can be learned in many other ways, learning from people, learning from life...
