The two countries officially established diplomatic relations just one day later (November 12, 1975) as a testament to the connection and sharing of core values of independence, freedom and development. Since then, the Vietnam-Angola bilateral relationship has developed strongly in many fields from politics-diplomacy, economics, culture, education to people-to-people exchange.

Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung said that on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Angola diplomatic relations, in early August 2025, President Luong Cuong paid a State visit to Angola. The visit was a great success with many important results, opening up many new cooperation opportunities in the fields of economics, trade, investment and people-to-people exchange... These are also clear evidence of the solidarity, affection, and respect for the relationship between the Party, State and people of Vietnam, as well as the good partnership with many prospects between the two countries.

“The Declaration of Independence on November 11, 1975, did not immediately end the war, but it opened an irreversible path towards freedom. Angola has gone through many years of fierce war, but has never lost faith and hope. Thanks to the patriotic vision of the late President José Eduardo dos Santos - Architect of Peace - the country rose up in 2002, ending the civil war, opening a new era of national reconciliation, rebuilding the country and consolidating a democratic and rule-of-law State, based on the solidarity and efforts of the entire people. Today, Angola has become an important factor in promoting peace, security and economic integration in Africa,” said Ambassador Fernando Miguel.
Regarding bilateral relations, Ambassador Fernando Miguel said that on November 12, 1975, the Republic of Angola and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam officially established diplomatic relations, just one day after Angola declared independence. After 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations, bilateral relations have developed in all fields. "The Angolan people will never forget the precious solidarity that Vietnam has given us in the most difficult moments of the struggle for independence and the reconstruction of the country," Ambassador Fernando Miguel expressed.
Ambassador Fernando Miguel emphasized that Angola highly appreciates and believes in the support of Vietnam - a country with a resilient economy and dynamic development, a shining example to learn from.
The Ambassador wishes to strengthen strategic coordination on global issues, especially mutual support at international organizations, developing public-private partnerships, mobilizing finance for large-scale infrastructure projects, transferring technology in all areas of development and cooperating in technical vocational training.

Ambassador Fernando Miguel believes that future generations of Angola and Vietnam will continue to preserve and nurture the friendship that was forged during the years of struggle and will grow stronger in peace.
