Celebrating 555 years of the name Duy Tien

On the morning of November 22, the Town Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Duy Tien town solemnly organized the 555th anniversary of the name Duy Tien (1469 - 2024) and the 95th anniversary of the establishment of the Indochinese Communist Party Branch of Duy Tien (November 1929 - November 2024).

The speech at the ceremony showed that Duy Tien town in Ha Nam province today is an ancient land, the birthplace of Vietnamese people since the Hung Kings founded the country. Duy Tien soon entered history with the event in the year Dinh Hoi - 987, at the foot of Doi mountain, the sacred mountain, the spiritual support of King Le Dai Hanh, performed the first Tich Dien plowing ceremony in our country, demonstrating the spirit of respecting agriculture. Until the end of the Quang Thuan era of King Le Thanh Tong, the villages and communes of Duy Tien today belonged to Nam Dao. In the 10th year of the same era (the year of Ky Suu, 1469), King Le Thanh Tong determined the map of the whole country, established (Duy Tan district), belonging to Ly Nhan prefecture, Son Nam province. In the year Tan Suu (1601), to avoid the taboo name of King Le Kinh Tong (Le Duy Tan), it was changed to Duy Tien district. From here, the name Duy Tien was stable. By the end of the Le Dynasty and the beginning of the Nguyen Dynasty, Duy Tien District had 6 cantons, 60 communes, villages, and estates, belonging to Ly Nhan Prefecture. After that, the district belonged to the provinces: Hanoi, Ha Nam, Nam Ha, Ha Nam Ninh, Nam Ha and Ha Nam Province from 1997 to present.

After many changes in administrative units, the place name "Duy Tien district" still exists. Over the past 555 years, Duy Tien has always been imbued with historical and cultural vestiges of the country. Residents of Duy Tien villages have created cultural values bearing the mark of a lowland area.

In early November 1929, the Indochinese Communist Party cell of Duy Tien district was established at the school next to the temple (De Tu) in Tuong Thuy village, Trac Van commune, including 6 party members: Nguyen Huu Tien, Nguyen Doan Chap, Vu Hung, Nguyen Van Trac, Pham Van To, Pham Van Binh; Comrade Nguyen Huu Tien was appointed as Party cell secretary - this was the first Party cell of Duy Tien district.

Through the revolutionary periods, generations of leaders of Duy Tien have always been united, striving, dynamic and creative; promoting the heroic tradition of Duy Tien. With the achievements, cadres, party members and people of Duy Tien town have been awarded many noble prizes by the Party and State.

After nearly 40 years of implementing the renovation process, from a purely agricultural district, Duy Tien has become a key point for industrial - service - urban development of the province. On December 17, 2019, the National Assembly Standing Committee issued Resolution No. 829 on the establishment of Duy Tien town in Ha Nam province. This is a very important political event, marking a new development; the recognition of the Party and State for the efforts and determination of the Party Committee, government and people of Duy Tien district in the process of construction and development.

With a rich historical and cultural tradition of 555 years and 95 years of revolutionary struggle, the Town Party Committee has always led the building of a strong Party Committee in terms of politics, ideology, ethics, organization and cadres. From the Indochina Communist Party cell with 6 party members, up to now, Duy Tien Party Committee has 62 grassroots party organizations, 240 party cells directly under the grassroots party committee with 7,405 party members; there are 39 comrades who are pre-uprising cadres, more than 4,400 party members have received the badge of over 40 years of Party membership.

At the ceremony, Duy Tien town launched the book “Duy Tien Culture and People”; awarded prizes for the contest to learn about the history and revolutionary traditions of Duy Tien town; honored and awarded prizes for the songwriting contest about Duy Tien.
