Celebrating Singapore's 58th National Day

On the morning of August 18, the Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organizations (HUFO) and the Vietnam - Singapore Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City held a meeting to celebrate the 58th anniversary of the National Day of the Republic of Singapore (August 9, 1965 - August 9, 2023).

Chairman of the Vietnam - Singapore Friendship Association in Ho Chi Minh City Lam Dung Tien affirmed that the Vietnam - Singapore relationship has developed for a long time and is increasingly developing well. Vietnam - Singapore also has many similarities in culture, economic practices, and are both responsible and active members of the international community...

According to Mr. Lam Dung Tien, up to now, the total investment capital from Singapore in Ho Chi Minh City is more than 14 billion USD, leading the countries and territories investing FDI in Ho Chi Minh City. The two sides have also strongly promoted training cooperation programs and regular cultural and people-to-people exchanges . Currently, there are more than 4,000 Vietnamese students studying at schools in Singapore. In the first 7 months of 2023, more than 290,000 Vietnamese tourists traveled to Singapore and vice versa. People of the two countries also regularly participate in cultural, artistic, culinary, and sports exchange programs organized by social organizations.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Roy Kho Ngee Seng, Consul General of the Republic of Singapore in Ho Chi Minh City, emphasized that this year the two countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of strategic partnership. Bilateral trade between the two countries has grown remarkably and opened up many opportunities for businesses on both sides.

According to Consul General Roy Kho Ngee Seng, the relationship between Ho Chi Minh City and Singapore has long been close and enduring, working together on many initiatives to enhance connectivity, encourage digital innovation, and create a premise for economic development. Study delegations from both countries are constantly exchanged; dialogues are continuously held to create a framework for deeper connections in areas such as urban planning, smart city solutions, and sustainable development.
