To reach the summit of Hon Ba , visitors must traverse a 37-kilometer-long mountain pass, starting from the Suoi Dau junction. The pass is winding and steep, but each bend opens up a new perspective: sometimes you see Nha Trang Bay in the distance, other times you see wisps of clouds drifting by.

Hon Ba Island experiences an average of 252 rainy days per year, creating high humidity that contributes to a rich ecosystem. The Hon Ba Nature Reserve is home to approximately 592 species of higher plants such as cypress, rosewood, redwood, and ebony, and 255 animal species, including 59 rare species such as the black-footed langur and the silver-cheeked gibbon.

A single day on the summit of Hon Ba can experience all four seasons. If you're lucky, you'll witness the moment when the sky is a brilliant blue, the sun a golden hue, then a brief shower or thin mist passes by, only to quickly return to its original state. The scenery becomes even clearer and more pristine, leaving visitors feeling enchanted.

Over 100 years ago, Dr. Alexandre Yersin , the discoverer of the plague-causing bacillus and whose life was closely associated with Khanh Hoa province, chose Hon Ba peak as his scientific research location. In 1915, he built a research station at an altitude of 1,500 meters, experimenting with growing Cinchona trees from South America to produce medicine for malaria. His two-story wooden house was restored in 2004.

Despite its height of 1,578 meters, the road from the foot of the mountain to the summit is only 37 kilometers long. Therefore, the road has many winding, sharp turns and hairpin bends, making it very attractive to those who enjoy exploration. However, many sections have a sheer cliff on one side and a deep ravine on the other, requiring drivers to be very focused and careful.

Furthermore, the winding road to Hon Ba, with its many curves that seem to lead straight into the clouds, is likened by travelers to the Tham Ma Pass (Ha Giang) version in Khanh Hoa.
