Lai Chau to host National Ethnic Minority Sports Festival in 2027

VHO - Lai Chau province has achieved impressive results at the 14th National Ethnic Minority Sports Festival, Region I in 2025 held in Thai Nguyen, and officially received the Flag to host the 15th Festival in 2027.

Lai Chau Provincial Sports Delegation achieved impressive results at the competition.

From November 26 to December 6, the 14th National Ethnic Minority Sports Festival, Region I, 2025, took place in Thai Nguyen province with the participation of nearly 400 athletes from 13 delegations from provinces and cities from Thua Thien Hue and beyond. The athletes competed in 7 sports.

Lai Chau Province Sports Delegation participated in the competition with 22 members, including 18 athletes and 4 officials. The athletes participated in 6/7 events including crossbow shooting, stick pushing, tug of war, tug of war, shuttlecock throwing and cross-country.

With serious preparation, reasonable tactics and determined fighting spirit, Lai Chau athletes excellently won 2 gold medals, 6 silver medals and 11 bronze medals, ranking among the groups with outstanding achievements at the competition.

The Organizing Committee awarded the "Unit with Excellent Achievements" Flag to the Lai Chau Provincial Sports Delegation, affirming Lai Chau's increasingly solid position in the national ethnic minority sports arena.

With the achievements at the 14th National Ethnic Minority Sports Festival, Region I in 2025, Lai Chau continues to affirm the right development of the mass sports movement among ethnic minorities, thereby contributing to preserving and spreading traditional cultural values ​​associated with physical education and sports activities.

At the closing ceremony, the Organizing Committee officially handed over the Flag to host the 15th National Ethnic Minority Sports Festival in 2027 to Lai Chau province. It is expected that the 2027 competition will not be divided into regions but will gather all provinces and cities with ethnic minorities nationwide, competing centrally in Lai Chau.

This is an honor and an opportunity for Lai Chau province to promote its culture, ethnic identity, natural landscapes and tourism potential, while affirming its capacity to organize national-scale sporting events.
