The two largest private banks, Techcombank and VPBank, have just continued to raise deposit interest rates. This is Techcombank's second rate hike this month, bringing the total number of adjustments since October to five. During the same period, VPBank has also raised interest rates four times consecutively.
Techcombank unexpectedly lowered deposit interest rates for 3, 6, and 12-month terms, but significantly increased them for many other terms.
According to the online deposit interest rate schedule for the Phat Loc Online product, the interest rate for 1-2 month terms increased by 0.4%, to 4.35%/year. With this rate, Techcombank becomes one of the leading banks in the short-term deposit group, along with VCBNeo, BaoVietBank, OCB, Bac A Bank , BVBank, NCB, and MBV.
However, the bank unexpectedly reduced the interest rate on 3-month term deposits by 0.1% per year, from the ceiling of 4.75% per year to 4.65% per year. This interest rate also applies to online deposits with terms of 4-5 months.
In addition, Techcombank also reduced the interest rate for 6-month online savings accounts by 0.3% per year to 5.85% per year.
Notably, interest rates for savings deposits with terms of 7-11 months increased sharply by 0.7%/year, uniformly listed at 5.85%/year.
The highest listed bank interest rate of 6.25%/year for 12-month term deposits is no longer available. Instead, a uniform rate of 5.95%/year is offered for terms ranging from 12 to 36 months.
Thus, the latest deposit interest rates have decreased by 0.3% per year for the 12-month term, while increasing by 0.3% per year for terms of 13-36 months.
In addition, Techcombank is adding up to 1% per year to the savings interest rate for all deposits made in December 2025 with terms of 3, 6, and 12 months. Accordingly, the highest interest rate received can reach up to 7.1% per year if customers meet the conditions set by the bank. This is currently the leading deposit interest rate in the market.
Another major player in the private banking sector, VPBank, has also recently increased deposit interest rates, with the increase occurring across terms ranging from 6 to 36 months.
The recently updated VPBank online deposit interest rate chart shows that interest rates for terms from 6 to 36 months are uniformly listed at 6% per annum.
Compared to the previous interest rate schedule, deposit interest rates for 6-11 month terms have increased by 0.3%/year, for 12-18 month terms by 0.2%/year, and for 24-36 month terms by 0.1%/year.
VPBank maintains the same deposit interest rates for terms under 6 months. The interest rate for a 1-month term is 4.4%/year, for a 2-month term is 4.5%/year, and for terms of 3-5 months it remains at the ceiling of 4.75%/year.
Thus, VPBank is among the banks currently offering the highest deposit interest rates, especially for terms of 3-5 months.
In addition, this bank also adds 0.2%/year interest rate for customers making their first online deposit of 1 million VND or more, with a term of 6 months or longer; and adds 0.1%/year interest rate for priority customers when depositing 100 million VND or more, with a term of 1 month or longer.
Since the beginning of December, five banks have increased deposit interest rates: Techcombank, MB, NCB, BVBank, and Saigonbank. Of these, Techcombank has adjusted its interest rates twice.
