On November 12, 2025, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee issued an order to build emergency works to overcome serious landslides at two important mountain passes, D'Ran Pass (section Km262+400 - Km262+530, National Highway 20, Xuan Truong Ward - Da Lat) and Gia Bac Pass (section Km47+252 - Km54+000, National Highway 28, Son Dien Commune).

According to the decision, the total budget allocated for the two projects is 9.2 billion VND, of which 5 billion VND is for D'Ran Pass and 4.2 billion VND for Gia Bac Pass. The construction period is expected to be 45 days from the date the emergency order is issued. The funding will be drawn from the provincial budget and other legal sources.
At D'Ran Pass, heavy rains that have lasted since the end of October have caused large cracks in the positive slope area, the roadbed has sunk deeply, and the volume of landslides is estimated at more than 60,000 m³. Construction items include cutting and excavating the hill section at risk of sliding, lowering the positive slope, filling the negative slope, revetment with stone gabions, repairing the roadbed and surface, dredging sewers and replacing the damaged guardrail system.
Since the end of October, D'Ran Pass has been completely closed to ensure the safety of people and vehicles. People have been forced to open a temporary road about 400 meters long through coffee gardens, crossing dirt roads and small streams to go to work and school. The disruption of traffic has caused high costs of transporting goods, affecting the lives of hundreds of local households.

Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to preside over the implementation and supervision of construction, the Department of Finance to coordinate and propose additional capital if the budget exceeds. Local authorities such as Xuan Truong Ward - Da Lat and Son Dien Commune arranged forces to guard, warn of dangers and coordinate with specialized agencies throughout the construction process. In addition, the Department of Agriculture and Environment was assigned to monitor and assess environmental impacts during the landslide treatment process to minimize impacts on upstream forests and the landscape of the area.
It is expected that after 45 days of construction, the key items will be completed, allowing the route to reopen before the Lunar New Year 2026. Lam Dong province also directed units to continue monitoring, observing geology and proactively planning response, to prevent the risk of landslides in the upcoming rainy and stormy season.
D'Ran Pass and Gia Bac are both steep, winding roads with weak geological foundations, and frequent landslides during the rainy season. The implementation of this emergency project not only helps restore traffic safety, but also demonstrates the determination of Lam Dong authorities in proactively responding to natural disasters, protecting infrastructure and people's lives.
