This event marks a historic milestone, opening the first direct flight connecting Vietnam and Africa.
Flight ET0678 landed safely at Noi Bai International Airport at 1:15 p.m. As soon as the plane rolled into the parking lot, a solemn water cannon salute was performed to celebrate.
Ethiopian Airlines’ new route will be operated four times a week with the state-of-the-art Boeing 787-800 wide-body aircraft. The connection to Addis Ababa, the headquarters of the African Union, will not only provide passengers with easy access to Ethiopia, but also provide seamless connections to the airline’s extensive network across Africa, Europe and the Americas.
The successful opening event is a positive signal, affirming the strong development and attraction of Noi Bai International Airport, which is serving an average of about 40,000 international passengers per day. The opening of a direct flight from Hanoi to Addis Ababa is not only a connection between the two capitals, but also a bridge between Southeast Asia and more than 50 countries in the African region. The event will contribute to diversifying the flight network, improving competitiveness, and making Hanoi an important transcontinental trade hub in Southeast Asia.
