According to the VNA correspondent in Brussels, this meaningful activity took place within the framework of the working trip of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports to the Kingdom of Belgium, led by Mr. Do Phuoc Trung, Deputy Director of the Department.
This is not only an opportunity to strengthen cultural exchange and connection, but also a profound expression of the affection and responsibility of the Party and State in general, and the Ho Chi Minh City government in particular, towards the Vietnamese community living, studying, and working abroad.
During a meeting with the Union of Vietnamese People in Belgium (UGVB), Mr. Do Phuoc Trung informed the Vietnamese diaspora about the outstanding achievements in the socio-economic development of Ho Chi Minh City.
Following the merger of Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau provinces, and the restructuring and streamlining of the two-tiered government model, Ho Chi Minh City has today risen to become a dynamic megacity, playing a leading role in the economy and leading the country in growth.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Huynh Cong My - Chairman of UGVB - expressed his appreciation and high regard for the meaningful gesture of the delegation from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports.
Mr. Huynh Cong My believes that valuable books and traditional cultural items such as conical hats are not only profound spiritual gifts, but also contribute to fostering love for the homeland and helping Vietnamese associations in Belgium preserve and spread national cultural identity.
The UGVB Chairman expressed his hope that in the future, the close relationship between the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports and UGV will continue to be maintained and developed in order to provide even more effective support for the cultural activities of the community.
Sharing her feelings at the donation ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Chung Thuy, Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Department of UGVB, was moved by the sincere concern of the leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports for the Vietnamese community abroad in general and in the Kingdom of Belgium in particular. According to her, the publications and cultural items brought by the delegation have great spiritual significance, contributing to helping the General Association and Vietnamese associations in Belgium preserve and promote traditional cultural values, thereby strengthening community bonds and connecting with national roots.
This cultural gift-giving activity further affirms the consistent policy of the Party and State in caring for the spiritual life of the Vietnamese community abroad, considering overseas Vietnamese as an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation, always accompanying the development of the homeland.
