On the evening of December 6, at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square (Hanoi), the 3rd Human Rights Media Awards Ceremony took place. A total of 36 photo and video works were awarded, along with two separate categories for Creative Works and Most Voted Works.
The award-winning authors come from both within and outside the country, contributing to strongly affirming the value and influence of the award.
This year, the organizers received about 17,000 entries, an increase of 1.7 times compared to 2024. Each work is considered a slice of life, recording the transformation of the country, creating a vivid picture of a happy, civilized, and unique Vietnam that is growing strongly on the journey of integration and development.
Two first prizes were awarded to the photo " Vietnam - The Era of Rising" by author Pham Ngoc Long Thien and the video "Happy Smiles" by Luu Minh Khuong.

The photo was taken during the A50 event series (celebrating the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification) on Bach Dang wharf, very bustling and brilliant, "capturing" the moment when the drones were creating the most beautiful shapes, everyone had their phones ready to take pictures.
“I took the photo at that moment, a Saigon that was happy, alive, and proud. For me, that is 'Happy Vietnam,' the happiness of being part of the flow of history, and preserving it through a frame,” author Pham Ngoc Long Thien shared about the work.
Meanwhile, Luu Minh Khuong's video is the result of 2 years of traveling around Vietnam to record everyday moments of people, from adults working, children playing to tourists visiting the places he also visited.
“I observed and learned a lot from the people I photographed. I gave them printed photos and they gave me happy smiles,” said author Luu Minh Khuong.

In the categories of Second and Third Prizes, there are many notable works, including the photo series "Winning the ASEAN Cup 2024 - the third time the Vietnamese team conquered the peak of Southeast Asian football" by author Bui Cuong Quyet (Photo Editorial Board, Vietnam News Agency), the photo "Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and NVIDIA CEO leisurely strolling the night streets, drinking Hanoi beer" by author Nguyen Giang Nam...; or video reports such as "Fish sauce from Norway" by author Dang Thi Thanh Huyen, "Dong Van Stone Plateau - The origin of the Asian cultural journey" by author Hoang Van Tinh...
In addition to a second prize, a reporter from Vietnam News Agency also received two consolation prizes in the photo category - the photo series "Reviving lungs, a miracle for the sick" by author Bui Cuong Quyet and the video - work "Technology lights up hope" about an example of applying technology to overcome fate, author Trinh Xuan Tu.
The presence of two reports by author Catalin Chitu (currently living in Ho Chi Minh City) became a special highlight because he was the only foreign author to receive the award.
He received an Encouragement Award for “Seven Mountains” - a video of mountains that are not only beautiful but also mysterious, imbued with indigenous cultural stories of the Mekong Delta in general and An Giang in particular; the Creative Work Award for “Silver Sedge” - a video about a sustainable initiative of people in My Hanh Bac commune (Tay Ninh) in applying natural materials to make biological straws, both bringing economic value and preserving traditional cultural values of the locality.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh affirmed that in its third edition, the award has gone beyond the framework of a traditional photo and video contest to become a national award.
“What is special is that the authors come from different professions, different ages, different regions and ethnicities; they use different equipment, from professional to simple. But they all meet at one common point: a passionate love for the Fatherland and a desire to convey the image of a peaceful - beautiful - dynamic - happy Vietnam to the world,” Deputy Minister Le Hai Binh affirmed.

Through international exhibitions and cultural events, a series of works winning the Human Rights Media Award have been introduced to international friends through exhibitions and cultural events in Sochi (Russian Federation), Bangkok (Thailand), Venezuela, Australia, Sweden, and will soon be present in Chile, Hungary, Finland, Brunei... and 97 Vietnamese diplomatic missions abroad.
After three times of organization, the contest has attracted the participation of nearly 40,000 works, affirming its strong influence from across the country.
This year's award ceremony is part of the "Vietnam Happy Fest 2025" organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Hanoi People's Committee, Vietnam Television and the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists.
