Spreading the spirit of sharing for the community.

(Dong Nai) - The 2026 Humanitarian Month will be implemented nationwide in May with the theme "80 Years - A Journey of Compassion for the Community." This is not only an annual activity of the Vietnam Red Cross Society but also an opportunity to strongly promote the tradition of "mutual support and compassion," and the spirit of solidarity and sharing of the nation.

In response to the 2026 Humanitarian Month, many meaningful and practical activities took place in Dong Nai , attracting the participation of numerous businesses, organizations, and individuals. A notable new development is that the Dong Nai City Red Cross Society not only mobilized resources but also proactively launched appeals to the business community, social organizations, and philanthropists to directly organize humanitarian programs tailored to local conditions. This approach not only expands the scope of support but also fosters initiative, flexibility, and a sense of social responsibility among each agency, unit, and business.

While in the past, support activities mainly focused on giving gifts and necessities, this year's Humanitarian Month has shifted its focus to supporting the livelihoods of the poor and vulnerable. From providing production capital, supporting means of earning a living, scholarships for disadvantaged students, to building Red Cross houses with a total value of approximately 1 billion VND (since the campaign was launched), all efforts are aimed at helping the poor and disadvantaged improve their lives and achieve sustainable stability.

This is the sixth year of implementing the Humanitarian Month, but the first year it is being carried out in the context of Dong Nai operating under a two-tiered local government model after the merger. The new development space, with its larger area and population, also places greater demands on social welfare and humanitarian activities. In many remote, mountainous, and border areas, a significant number of households still face difficulties in terms of livelihoods, access to healthcare, education , and essential services. This requires even stronger collective efforts from the entire society to ensure that no one is left behind in the development process.

In this context, the Humanitarian Month should not simply be a short-term fundraising campaign, but rather a large-scale, sustainable social movement linked to community responsibility and a culture of sharing among every citizen and business. To spread this spirit of sharing more widely, Dong Nai needs to continue innovating its humanitarian fundraising methods towards a more professional approach and one that is aligned with the actual needs of the people. Alongside this, it is necessary to promote the application of digital technology in connecting charitable resources; build a database of those in need to ensure that support reaches the right people with the right needs, avoiding duplication or omissions. Communication efforts should continue to be emphasized to amplify beautiful acts of kindness and effective humanitarian models, thereby fostering a sense of social responsibility in each individual and organization.

Besides the pivotal role of the Red Cross, the coordinated involvement of local authorities, the Fatherland Front at all levels, mass organizations, businesses, and the community is essential. When humanitarian activities become a conscious effort and a cultural norm in social life, their impact will not be limited to a single peak month but will spread throughout society, contributing to building a united, compassionate, and sustainably developing community.
