The 2025 International Culinary Culture Festival with the theme "Joining hands to support our compatriots to overcome storms and floods", organized by the Diplomatic Corps Service Department in coordination with units of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, took place on November 22 and 23 at Van Phuc Diplomatic Corps, Hanoi.

As an outstanding annual event, the Festival attracts the attention and participation of many embassies, foreign cultural centers, local foreign affairs departments and many businesses; contributing to promoting cultural and culinary exchanges between Vietnam and the world.

The Indonesian booth at this year's Festival impressed with its vibrant design, bold traditional colors and delicious dishes, attracting many diners to visit, explore and experience.

Sharing with The World and Vietnam Newspaper , Charge d'Affaires of the Indonesian Embassy in Vietnam Jane Runkat said that the Indonesian government highly appreciates the invitation from the Vietnamese government. In particular, this year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between Vietnam and Indonesia (December 30, 1955 - December 30, 2025) and the 80th anniversary of the National Day of both Indonesia (August 17, 1945 - August 17, 2025) and Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).

Referring to the humanitarian theme of this event, she stated that Indonesia's participation in the 2025 Food Culture Festival is not only to introduce culture and traditional dishes, but also to demonstrate the spirit of solidarity and sharing with Vietnamese people in localities affected by the recent floods.

“We would like to express our sympathy and join hands to support the Vietnamese community during this difficult time,” the Chargé d’Affaires stressed.

Sharing about the Indonesian booth this year, Ms. Jane Runkat introduced familiar traditional dishes in the “land of thousands of islands” such as bakso (meatballs), sate (grilled meat skewers), nasi goreng (Indonesian fried rice), pastel fried pastry, bakwan jagung (fried corn cake), pisang goreng (fried banana) and bubur sumsum (rice flour dessert). These are all dishes loved by Indonesian people, and at the same time represent the culinary quintessence of this Southeast Asian country.

In addition, in the opening ceremony, the Indonesian Embassy also presented the traditional dance performance Tari Selendang, with the desire to convey the warm, cohesive values in Indonesian culture.

The Charge d'Affaires of the Indonesian Embassy in Vietnam hopes that bringing the typical dishes of the archipelago to the public right in Hanoi will become a bridge, not only fostering the Vietnam-Indonesia friendship but also expanding the connection between the people of the two countries.

“We are very happy to see so many people visiting. We hope they will have memorable experiences with cuisines from many places around the world, as well as feel the spirit of solidarity and cultural exchange between Indonesia and Vietnam,” the diplomat said.

Ms. Jane Runkat also expressed her hope that more and more Vietnamese and international tourists will choose Indonesia as a destination in the coming time.

In addition to the goal of promoting the national image, Ms. Runkat highly appreciated the significance of the International Culinary Culture Festival - an annual event organized by Vietnam and attracting the participation of many diplomatic agencies and countries in the region. According to her, this is not only an opportunity to introduce the unique features of culture and cuisine of each country, but also an activity that plays an important role in promoting exchanges, enhancing mutual understanding and strengthening friendship between ASEAN countries.

“We are very close to the pavilions of other ASEAN countries. This helps promote friendship in the region and strengthens ASEAN identity,” the Charge d’Affaires said.
