In the last days of the twelfth lunar month, visiting Nghia Hiep flower village (Ve Giang commune, Quang Ngai province ), the Tet atmosphere is already evident. From the beginning to the end of the village, flower fields stretch out in a shimmering golden color, creating a vibrant spring scene in the Quang Ngai countryside.

Nghia Hiep flower village is known as the "chrysanthemum capital" of Central Vietnam. Every year, this village supplies hundreds of thousands of chrysanthemum pots to the Tet market, mainly large-flowered and crystal chrysanthemum varieties, serving the decorative needs of people throughout the country.

Nghia Hiep flower village has a history of over 50 years associated with the Tet flower cultivation profession. During that time, the people here have become accustomed to "welcoming spring early," as the village enters its busiest season of the year just as the flowers begin to bloom.

The family of Mr. Le Van Nong (residing in Hai Mon village, Ve Giang commune) planted nearly 2,000 pots of various flowers this year, including more than 1,000 pots of chrysanthemums. As early as November (lunar calendar), all the flowers had already been reserved and bought by traders.

"For flower growers here, the period before Tet (Lunar New Year) is when spring is most evident. When the flowers leave the village to celebrate Tet with people across the country, the village returns to its normal rhythm of life," Mr. Nong shared.

From one end of the village to the other, chrysanthemums bloomed, dyeing the entire area yellow. The usually quiet village road suddenly became bustling with vehicles, and traders lined up to wait to load the flowers.

This year, Mr. Le Hong Son (residing in Dong Vien village, Ve Giang commune) planted nearly 1,500 pots of chrysanthemums. According to Mr. Son, the heavy rains and storms in October-November 2025 affected many flower fields. However, thanks to his experience in cultivation, water management, and proper lighting, the flowers still bloomed on time and evenly.

"Due to the storms, the flowers this year aren't as beautiful as in previous years, but in return, they bloomed evenly and were all bought by traders. The price is also higher, so everyone is happy," Mr. Son said.

Chrysanthemums from Nghia Hiep are transported throughout the central provinces. Mr. Tran Xuan Lam (a trader from Quang Tri ) said that this year he ordered more than 10,000 pots of chrysanthemums to supply the Quang Tri market.

According to Mr. Lam, the price of chrysanthemums this year has increased by an average of 10,000 - 50,000 VND per pot, depending on size and quality. The main reason is that floods have damaged many flower-growing areas, reducing supply while demand for Tet (Lunar New Year) remains high.

Currently, chrysanthemum plants measuring 55cm are being purchased by traders at prices ranging from 180,000 to 200,000 VND per pot. Those measuring 60cm are priced at around 220,000 to 240,000 VND per pot. Those measuring 80cm are priced at around 500,000 VND per pot. As for the 1-meter tall plants, the price ranges from 1.2 to 1.4 million VND per pot.

The entire chrysanthemum capital is bathed in a vibrant yellow hue.

A bustling atmosphere of buying and selling is evident along all the roads leading to the flower village.

Besides chrysanthemums , many households in Ve Giang commune have boldly planted other flowers to diversify their flower varieties and meet market demands.

As the last trucks left the village, carrying the golden hues of chrysanthemums to all corners of the land, Nghia Hiep flower village also closed an early Tet season. Spring had arrived a step ahead, leaving behind the joy of a bountiful harvest and good prices on the faces of the flower growers.
