In the days leading up to the Lunar New Year of the Horse, Sa Dec flower village, Lai Vung fermented pork sausage production facilities, and many flower and eco-tourism destinations in Dong Thap province were bustling with visitors. Women in elegant ao dai and ao ba ba dresses posed for New Year photos, choosing and buying fermented pork sausage and tangerines as gifts.
Mr. Nguyen Van Nhut, owner of the Duyen Nhut - Sa Dec tourist site, said that the tourist area has completed decorating the miniature landscapes and has been welcoming visitors to take Tet photos for about two weeks now.
"This year, my tourist spot has added more new scenic spots so that visitors have different photo opportunities compared to last year."
Besides the colorful flowerbeds with various species, I also decorated with flower boats, miniature models of boats carrying flowers and fruits, and monkey bridges over lotus ponds... so that visitors taking photos feel closer to their homeland in the Mekong Delta," Mr. Nhut said.
Sa Dec is resplendent with colorful flowers.
According to observations, tourist spots in Sa Dec flower village are crowded with visitors, taking photos and choosing Tet flowers to take home. Meanwhile, in the flower gardens, traders have arrived to transport Tet flowers to the market, leaving only a few baskets of flowers remaining on the sparsely spaced flower trellises.
Meanwhile, at the Lai Vung spring roll processing facilities, workers are also busy working overtime day and night to meet Tet holiday orders. Ms. Phan Thi Yen, a worker at the Co Hoan spring roll processing facility (Lap Vo commune, Dong Thap province), said that the facility increases production 3-4 times during the Tet season. Therefore, workers also work overtime day and night, but in return, they have enough money to enjoy a comfortable Tet holiday.
"I work for the spring roll factory year-round, and my income is stable. During Tet (Lunar New Year), I work more overtime, and my income is 2-3 times higher than usual. The owner also provides food and Tet lucky money, so I'm very happy," said Ms. Yen.
Co Hoan's spring roll processing facility is busy producing for the Tet holiday.
In the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), tourists visiting Dong Thap often go to Sa Dec flower village, then wander through the pink tangerine orchards, and finally stop to buy Lai Vung fermented pork sausage. It's a trip that feels like bringing the whole spring season home.
"I came to Dong Thap with a group of friends to take photos with Tet flowers and buy flowers, tangerines, and fermented pork rolls as gifts. This is a familiar annual tour for me and my friends," said Ms. Hoang Anh, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City.
Tourist attractions are decorated with miniature landscapes that evoke a sense of familiarity and connection to the homeland of the Mekong Delta.
