Leaders of Dong Thap province visited and worked with the Executive Committee of the Provincial Buddhist Sangha

On November 13, the working delegation of Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee led by Mr. Phan Van Thang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, visited and worked with the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of the province at Vinh Trang Pagoda, My Phong Ward. The delegation included representatives of the Department of Construction, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the leaders of My Phong Ward.

During the visit, the representative of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of the province informed about the activities in the past time. In general, since the merger of the province up to now, the situation of religious activities and Buddhist activities in the province has been quite favorable. It is one of the units that has carried out the merger and arrangement of religious organizations quickly and stably, and has been highly appreciated by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.

At the same time, the delegation also listened to the leader of My Phong ward report on the restoration and promotion of the historical and cultural relic of Vinh Trang Pagoda. Vinh Trang Pagoda has a long history, built in the early 19th century, is a national historical and cultural relic, a major religious center of the province; and is also a famous spiritual tourist destination. Therefore, the preservation and renovation of the relic and surrounding landscape need to be paid attention to, contributing to ensuring security and order, urban beauty and promoting the value of the relic, creating a spreading effect in the community.

Speaking at the working session, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Phan Van Thang highly appreciated the results of the activities of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in the province in recent times, especially in participating in taking care of social security and maintaining security and order.

Comrade Phan Van Thang emphasized that in the coming time, relevant departments, branches and localities need to strengthen coordination and support with the Provincial Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in deploying and implementing solutions to renovate, upgrade, embellish and promote the value of the historical relic of Vinh Trang Pagoda.

At the same time, enhancing the application of information technology and digital transformation in organizing community-oriented activities of Vinh Trang Pagoda, contributing to promoting and spreading the image of historical and cultural relics to tourists near and far. Thereby, contributing to tourism development, improving people's lives, promoting local socio -economic development.

On this occasion, the delegation visited and learned about the operation of Tinh Nghiem Kindergarten (My Phong ward). The school has been operating since 2006, providing free education to children with financial support from the Provincial Buddhist Social Charity Board and many organizations, individuals and benefactors inside and outside the locality.

Comrade Phan Van Thang highly appreciated Tinh Nghiem Kindergarten as a meaningful model of activities of the Buddhist community in the province. At the same time, the delegation presented many meaningful gifts, encouraging the school to continue promoting the achieved results, contributing to caring for children in difficult circumstances in the area.
