Mentioning the Youth Volunteers brings to mind a special force, a shining symbol of Vietnamese patriotism and willpower. These were young men and women in their twenties who set aside their personal desires, carrying with them great ambitions and unwavering faith to the battlefield, contributing to the defense of the Fatherland.

They may not have directly carried weapons on the front lines, but they stood amidst bombs and bullets to open roads, transport ammunition, provide medical care, build bridges, and ensure that transportation routes remained open, supporting the front lines and serving the resistance and the defense of the Fatherland. Many of the "sons and daughters of yesteryear" in the youth volunteer corps still bear the lingering effects of chemical poisoning.

Former Youth Volunteer Luong Thi Than (Thich Dam Trung) emotionally recalled that during wartime, when the enemy invaded their homes, even women fought. Young men and women put aside their youth to defend the homeland.

When the country achieved peace , former volunteer youth worker Luong Thi Than still bore many wounds caused by bombs and bullets, requiring her to wear prosthetic legs, dentures, and artificial eyes. When the weather changed, her wounds would ache again.

Nevertheless, it was the spirit of camaraderie, comradeship, patriotism, and the will to overcome difficulties that gave former youth volunteers who were exposed to chemical toxins the strength to overcome health challenges, continue to live, contribute, and spread positive values to society.

During his visit to former youth volunteers at Thai Binh Medical College, Comrade Nguyen Phuoc Loc expressed his emotion and heartfelt gratitude to the former youth volunteers who dedicated their youth to the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland.
