Faced with increasingly sophisticated criminal tricks, the province's functional forces are simultaneously taking action, establishing strict control layers, determined to maintain economic security and protect the market during Tet.

Implementing the drastic direction of the Government and the People's Committee of Lao Cai province, the peak period of anti-smuggling has been launched simultaneously throughout the area. Core forces from Customs, Border Guard, Police to Market Management are creating a coordinated shield, tightening control from the border deep into the interior.

Many border guards and posts were set up on the border.

In the 11 months of 2025, the Market Management force alone inspected more than 1,000 cases, handled nearly 900 cases, and collected more than 7.2 billion VND for the state budget. Many cases of transporting food of unknown origin such as frozen chicken feet, candy, sunflower seeds, etc. were discovered. But this fight is getting more and more difficult, because the subjects are constantly changing their methods of operation.

Mr. Do Du Bac, Head of the Market Management Department of Lao Cai province, analyzed: "The methods of operation are becoming more and more sophisticated, requiring functional forces to also innovate and find new ways to fight, and have timely measures to prevent such phenomena."

And at the "hot spot" of the border gate, where smugglers and commercial fraudsters always try to find ways to deceive the authorities, with synchronous solutions, the Customs force has detected and promptly handled over 270 cases.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh, Deputy Head of Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs Team, said that the experience learned from previous cases will be applied immediately during the peak period before, during and after Tet: "First, we concentrate our forces and arrange to strengthen inspection and control work. Second, we propagate and mobilize businesses and people to clearly understand and comply with legal regulations. Third, we apply professional measures and use modern technical equipment to strengthen patrol and control work, promptly detect and strictly handle violations."

Along the entire border, the provincial Border Guard force has also set up checkpoints and many patrol teams, focusing on the next 3 months. The focus is on preventing and strictly handling illegal transportation of precious metals, currency, weapons and explosives.

Colonel Nguyen Phi Khanh, Commander of Lao Cai Provincial Border Guard, emphasized that the combined strength from close coordination is the key factor: "Close coordination, implementation of Decree 03 of the Government on coordination regulations between the three forces, development of a joint plan; at the same time, launching a peak period of crime prevention and suppression in the border area, ensuring the maintenance of political security, social order and safety in the border area."

With synchronous participation and high determination, Lao Cai authorities are tightening the siege, determined not to give smuggling criminals a chance to operate, contributing to bringing a peaceful Tet to the people.
