Lao Cai economic growth in 2025 is estimated at 8.5%

During December 8-9, the 6th session of Lao Cai Provincial People's Council was held, with 46 Resolutions passed, related to social security, creating new momentum for Lao Cai's development in the following years.

In 2025, Lao Cai province's GRDP economic growth is estimated to reach 8.5%, completing the plan target assigned by the Prime Minister.

The economic structure continues to shift positively: Agriculture, forestry and fishery account for 16%; industry and construction account for 37.31%; services account for 39.16%; product tax 7.52%.

Budget revenue in the area is estimated at 21,000 billion VND, reaching 100% of the plan.

At the Session, the Provincial People's Council reviewed, commented on and decided on 46 Resolutions that were passed, which are of special importance in connection with the requirements of innovating local governance, perfecting mechanisms and policies, streamlining the organizational apparatus and operating the two-level local government model.

The question and answer session at the meeting took place in a lively and frank manner, focusing on the contents with many difficulties and obstacles in the implementation process and the pressing issues that voters and people are particularly concerned about, such as: Public investment, land, mineral and environmental management; quality of education , healthcare, and public health care; difficulties and obstacles in organizing the two-level local government model, etc.

Speaking at the session, comrade Trinh Viet Hung, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, emphasized: The session is a necessary step to create a unified policy platform for the entire province after the merger, while meeting governance requirements in the context of operating a two-level local government model; creating a legal framework to promote economic development, care for social security, and ensure national defense and security in the new development stage.

The session also clarified the authority, responsibility and expanded decentralization to the grassroots level on the tasks permitted by law to enhance the initiative and flexibility of the commune and ward levels with the motto "Locals decide, localities do, localities take responsibility" in the spirit of "Whatever the commune level can do, we will decentralize to the maximum" associated with necessary control and support mechanisms.
