Tang Loong Industrial Park (IP) located in Tang Loong commune is the largest chemical - mineral industrial IP in the Northern mountainous region and is the core of the industrial development strategy of Lao Cai province. With the characteristic of concentrating many manufacturing industries that consume large amounts of resources such as electricity, water, Apatite ore, coal, stone... Tang Loong IP not only creates a driving force for industrial growth but also poses great challenges in resource management and environmental protection.
The project to convert Tang Loong Industrial Park into an ecological industrial park model not only helps businesses save costs and enjoy preferential mechanisms, but also supports management agencies in building an infrastructure investment roadmap and policies to accompany businesses. The ultimate goal is to reduce CO₂ emissions, contribute to implementing the Net Zero commitment by 2050 and promote the development of green, modern industry according to the orientation of Lao Cai province in the period 2026 - 2030.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Vuong Trinh Quoc, Head of the Lao Cai Provincial Economic Zone Management Board, said that the project to convert Tang Loong Industrial Park into an ecological industrial park was built under the direction of the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee and based on Decree 35/2022/ND-CP of the Government .
The project is formed from 08 basic topics, including: Overview of current situation; overview of ecological industrial park model; cleaner production and resource efficiency solutions; industrial symbiosis network and monitoring and evaluation tools.
The project to convert ecological industrial parks is expected to bring dual benefits to both the management agency and the business community. For businesses, the project will support cost and input resource savings through the application of clean production; optimize production costs and be supported with preferential mechanisms and policies specifically for ecological businesses and support tools to monitor and reduce emissions right from the source.

At the conference, the consulting unit presented core issues related to the goals and criteria set by the State to ensure recognition as an ecological industrial park; the contents and tasks that enterprises must perform; the roadmap, progress and implementation methods.

Accordingly, after converting Tang Loong Industrial Park into an ecological industrial park, in the period of 2025-2030, it is expected that 20% of units will apply efficient raw materials and clean production, thus saving 1-3% of energy, water, and raw materials; 10% of industrial wastewater will be reused and recycled. In the period of 2030-2035, 30% of units will apply efficient raw materials and save 3-5% of energy, water, and raw materials, and 25% of wastewater will be recycled; forming a large-scale industrial symbiotic chain...
The conference also consulted with businesses located in Tang Loong Industrial Park, leaders of Tang Loong and Gia Phu communes on converting to ecological industrial parks and received many practical opinions, helping the project to be completed in the most feasible and effective way, suitable to the actual conditions of the industrial park.

Concluding the conference, the leaders of the Lao Cai Economic Zone Management Board expressed their confidence that, with the support, responsibility and determination of all levels, sectors and the business community, the project will soon be submitted to the Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee for approval to implement the transformation goal, contributing to the successful implementation of the Provincial Party Committee's Resolution on developing Lao Cai industry in a green and modern direction in the period 2026 - 2030.
