Lao Cai planted more than 11,700 hectares of new forest

In the first 6 months of 2025, Lao Cai province planted over 11,700 hectares of forest, making good progress compared to the set plan.

Of which, newly planted production forests reached 765 hectares (70.8% of the plan), replanted forests due to change of forest use purpose over 58 hectares and replanted forests after exploitation was over 10,878 hectares.

Along with that, the movement of planting scattered trees continued to be promoted, with a total number of trees planted reaching more than 6.88 million trees. The work of forest regeneration and protection also achieved positive results, with a total area of 8,629.6 hectares, completing 100% of the annual plan. Of which, 460 hectares were newly protected and protected, the rest were areas carried over from previous years.

Forest protection work continues to be maintained effectively. The managed and protected forest area is over 493,666 hectares, completing the entire set plan. The total forestry production value of the province in the first 6 months of the year is estimated at 2,474 billion VND.

Forest cover rate of Lao Cai province is estimated at 61.37%.

As of June 30, 2025, the forest coverage rate in the entire Lao Cai province is estimated at 61.37% (the old Lao Cai province is 59.6%, the old Yen Bai province is 63%). These figures show the synchronous and effective participation of all levels, sectors, localities and people in forest development, contributing to protecting the ecological environment and responding to climate change.
