Lesson 2:
PROACTIVE INNOVATION TOWARDS AUTOMATION
As an industrially developed locality, Dong Nai is "opening its doors" to high-tech, environmentally friendly projects, including large-scale component and semiconductor manufacturing plants. When these factories apply automated production lines, robots, and intelligent control systems to increase productivity and product quality, it requires workers to know how to operate, maintain, monitor, and master the production technology.

Recognizing this trend, the workforce quickly adapted and mastered automated equipment and production lines. Many people rose from worker positions to management roles thanks to their keen insight and quick grasp of technology.
Leading the way in innovation initiatives.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, Head of the Maintenance Department at Pou Chen Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Bien Hoa Ward), is one of the outstanding workers of Dong Nai province who had the honor of attending the 2025 Creative Labor Festival organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. This event brings together many excellent individuals with valuable practical innovations and technical improvements in labor and production. At the festival, Mr. Tung introduced and contributed to the innovation exhibition with his solution "Shoe Box Folding and Gluing Mold," a highly applicable technical improvement that contributes to increasing productivity, reducing costs, and optimizing the production process.
Speaking about his initiative, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung said: "Previously, the shoe box packaging process was done entirely by hand, which was time-consuming and prone to errors due to repeated operations. Given this reality, I came up with the invention of a shoe box folding and gluing mold. This invention reduces manual operations, increases accuracy, speeds up box folding, reduces technical errors, and improves the comfort of workers. The invention has saved over 50% of operating time, increased packaging productivity by more than 1.5 times, and significantly benefited the business financially. In addition, it reduces the rate of damaged boxes and saves raw materials."
The initiatives of the workers have demonstrated a spirit of creativity and proactive adaptation to the demands of technological innovation in enterprises. Mr. Nguyen Minh Hoi, working at AQua Vietnam Electrical Appliances Co., Ltd. (in Tran Bien ward), is a prime example of innovative thinking, adaptation to production technology, and active initiative in labor and production. Every year, his initiatives have yielded effective results, meeting the needs of the enterprise for innovation. Specifically, Mr. Hoi's improvement of the plastic mold for washing machine door handles helped the enterprise reduce product defects by 30%, saving 150 hours of product reprocessing per month, resulting in a profit of 120 million VND per year.
Besides the self-learning efforts of employees, businesses also play a crucial role by regularly organizing training courses, providing guidance on equipment operation and maintenance skills, and updating knowledge of new technologies. Many companies also encourage employees to propose technical improvement initiatives, helping to optimize production processes; in addition, creating a modern and safe working environment, reducing strenuous manual labor and minimizing risks.
Mr. Doan Van Ut Chinh, working in the Automation Department of Pou Sung Vietnam Co., Ltd. (An Vien commune), is a prime example of innovation and creativity, making significant contributions to the company's development. His initiative to improve the process of removing fabric labels and switching to printing label content onto the smooth surface of shoe soles has been highly praised by the company. This initiative by Mr. Chinh was also selected by the Dong Nai Trade Union to participate in the national-level Creative Labor Festival 2025 exhibition. The benefits include saving nearly 7,000 hours of operation time per month and saving over 18,000 USD per month.
Technologically astute
Jason Furniture Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Dong Xoai III Industrial Park, Binh Phuoc Ward) is a company specializing in the production of furniture items such as beds, wardrobes, chairs, sofas, and sofa accessories, providing stable employment for nearly 6,000 workers. With its large-scale production and modern development orientation, the company has boldly invested in and put into operation many automated production lines, gradually improving productivity and product quality.
Faced with the ever-increasing demands for technological innovation, the company's workforce not only quickly adapts to the modern working environment but also proactively learns and improves their skills to master machinery and equipment. Notably, many workers actively propose initiatives and technical improvements to optimize production processes, save costs, and reduce manual labor. These practical contributions not only help the company improve operational efficiency but also affirm the role and capabilities of the workforce in the digital transformation and automation of production.
Mr. Truong Van Nhat, the head of the company's automated overhead conveyor system, is a prime example. Since the company installed the automated overhead conveyor system, Mr. Nhat has been at the forefront of adopting the technology, ensuring smooth operation and efficient production. According to Mr. Nhat, the overhead conveyor system not only optimizes labor but also increases daily output. Previously, before the automated overhead conveyor system was implemented, workers only achieved about 50% of their capacity; now it has increased to 80%. Workers only need to complete the sewing stage, and the system will scientifically arrange the products, reducing travel time.
At Topband Smart Dong Nai Co., Ltd. (Loc An - Binh Son Industrial Park, Long Thanh Ward), the application of high technology in production has become a core foundation in its development strategy. The company focuses on the production of smart electronic components and devices; and boldly invests in modern, highly automated production lines to improve productivity, product quality, and competitiveness in the market.
Furthermore, the company continuously expands its product portfolio with various technological equipment lines such as: household electrical appliances, smart lighting systems, security solutions, and industrial automation applications. Product diversification coupled with technological innovation has helped the company gradually establish its position in the global supply chain. Currently, nearly 3,000 employees working at the company receive ongoing training and development in professional skills and industrial work ethics.
According to Ms. Yang Jia Yan, Human Resources Director of Topband Smart Dong Nai Co., Ltd. (Long Thanh Ward), through regular training programs and advanced training, employees are gradually mastering technology and adapting flexibly to the modern production environment. Not only do they meet job requirements, but many employees also proactively learn, propose innovative improvements, contributing to increased production efficiency and promoting digital transformation within the company.
According to assessments from many businesses in the area, while previously the operation and maintenance of modern production lines often depended on foreign engineers or highly skilled technical experts, Vietnamese workers can now confidently take on these important positions. This shift not only reflects the increasingly high capabilities of Vietnamese workers but also demonstrates the effectiveness of investment in human resource training, meeting the development requirements of modern industrial production in the context of digital transformation and international integration.
According to a report from the Department of Finance, Dong Nai currently has 58 established industrial parks and numerous industrial clusters. To date, many industrial parks are developing according to the model of green, smart, and high-tech industries to improve productivity and product quality. Along with this, the workforce in these enterprises is also improving their skills, quickly adapting to and mastering automated equipment and production lines.
