"We have made clear assessments from the beginning. This is going to be a difficult conflict. We know this is going to take time, and we are confident that Ukraine has what it needs," said Pentagon deputy press secretary Sabrina Singh.
"We have counted the losses. We know there will be losses on the battlefield. That is the unfortunate part of this conflict," said Sabrina Singh.

The United States has provided Ukraine with air defense systems and capabilities its military needs, according to the Pentagon's deputy press secretary.
Earlier, General Mark A. Milley, chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, said it was too early to say when the Ukrainian counteroffensive would take place because Russia has several hundred thousand troops stationed along the front line. But he described the Ukrainian operation as “a very fierce fight that could take a long time and be very costly.”
Russia said the Ukrainian armed forces are suffering heavy losses in the counteroffensive. On June 20, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov said that in the past 24 hours, Russian combat aircraft, missiles and artillery attacked 98 Ukrainian artillery units and military equipment facilities at 112 points.
Recently, Russian defense officials commented that Ukraine's counterattack will end in a few weeks. Chairman of the Russian State Duma Defense Committee Andrey Kartapolov said that Kiev's forces will soon lose the motivation to counterattack by July if the Ukrainian military's casualty rate continues to increase as it is now.
The Russia-Ukraine conflict has been going on for more than a year and there is no end in sight. The two sides have been carrying out counterattacks against each other recently. Many peace proposals for the conflict have been put forward but have not yielded results due to differences in viewpoints between Russia and Ukraine.
The West continues to pump weapons into Ukraine to fight against Russia. Russia believes that the decision of the US and NATO countries to supply tanks to Ukraine makes negotiations between Russia and Ukraine “meaningless”.
Russia has repeatedly accused the US and its allies of deliberately trying to prolong the conflict, warning the West not to provide weapons to Ukraine, stressing that this would only escalate the conflict and cause unnecessary casualties without changing the situation of the war.
