Taking people as the root to protect the Fatherland in the new situation

On the morning of December 29, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense held the 2023 Military-Political Conference for the entire army. President Vo Van Thuong attended and directed the conference.

People's trust in the Army increased

Speaking at the conference, President Vo Van Thuong stated that in 2023, the entire army thoroughly grasped, concretized, and had many methodical, flexible, and creative measures and methods in organization and implementation, creating comprehensive and solid changes in all areas of work.

The overall quality, strength, level and combat readiness of the Army have been improved, better meeting the requirements of the task of protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.

The entire army resolutely, synchronously, and effectively implemented the "Five Adjustments to Force Organization". This is a major adjustment in the organization of the Army, conducted methodically, cautiously, and firmly, creating high consensus and unity.

The President commented that the activities have affirmed the strength, level, and combat readiness of our Army; demonstrated new thinking, new ways of working, proactiveness, creativity in work, and the ability to master the exploitation, use, research, manufacture, and production of new types of technical equipment.

Our people's trust in the Army, in "Uncle Ho's soldiers" continues to increase, and trust in the Army's leadership is at a high level. Each good deed and action of the Vietnam People's Army soldiers has further brightened the image of our Party, State and regime.

The army has promoted its core, pioneering, and shock role, not afraid of sacrifice and hardship, mobilizing nearly 60,000 soldiers, militia, and nearly 3,000 vehicles, promptly present in difficult and dangerous places to participate in preventing and fighting natural disasters, catastrophes, and search and rescue (including overseas).

The army is always the vanguard, core, and pioneer in protecting the Party's ideological foundation and fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints.

International integration and defense diplomacy are carried out actively, proactively, cleverly, flexibly, practically and effectively.

The team of generals must be "intelligent, brave, humane, trustworthy, honest, and loyal"

Regarding the direction and tasks for 2024, President Vo Van Thuong requested the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense to continue to perform well the function of strategic advisory to the Party and State on military and national defense. Be proactive, sensitive, improve research and forecasting capacity, have flexible and effective response strategies to situations, and avoid being passive and surprised.

The Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense continue to thoroughly grasp the policy of all-people national defense, people's war, and protecting the Fatherland in the new situation, with the viewpoint of relying on the people, "the people are the root", the center, and the subject.

The entire army focuses on improving overall quality and combat strength; strictly maintaining combat readiness, managing and firmly protecting airspace, sea, border, inland, cyberspace, firmly protecting sovereignty and territory.

The army coordinates with other forces to maintain security and order nationwide; proactively and effectively respond to non-traditional security challenges. Units actively research and develop military art and combat to effectively respond to high-tech warfare.

Resolutely carry out force organization adjustments according to plan and roadmap; basically complete force organization adjustments. Propose mechanisms, policies, and solutions to attract, train, and utilize talents, and improve the quality of human resources in the Army to meet the requirements of Army building in the new situation.

The President directed that special attention should be paid to building a truly clean and strong Party organization in the Army in terms of politics, ideology, ethics, organization and cadres, and an exemplary Party organization in all aspects. Ensuring the absolute and direct leadership of the Party in all aspects over the Army. Continuing to thoroughly grasp and seriously implement the Central Committee's policies and directions on Party building and rectification; on controlling power and preventing and combating corruption and negativity.

Timely consolidate Party committees, Party organizations, command organizations, and cadres at all levels in line with the roadmap for adjusting the force organization. Pay attention to building a strong cadre and officer team, especially a team of generals who must have the qualities of "intelligence, courage, humanity, trust, integrity, and loyalty" as taught by President Ho Chi Minh...

In 2024, the Army will create new breakthroughs, mastering the research and manufacturing of weapons and equipment.
