The Management Board of the National Historical - Cultural Park coordinated with the People's Committee of Thu Duc City to organize the 323rd Anniversary of Lord Le Thanh Hau Nguyen Huu Canh and the Ceremony to announce the content of the stele of Lord Le Thanh Hau Nguyen Huu Canh.
This is an activity to promote the tradition of remembering the source of water, recognizing the merits of Duc Le Thanh Hau Nguyen Huu Canh. He was the general who laid the foundation for the land of Saigon - Gia Dinh (now Ho Chi Minh City), the first person to establish the administrative system in the Southern region.

At the ceremony, Mr. Hoang Trung Nghia - Head of the Management Board of the National Historical and Cultural Park, praised the life and career of Duc Le Thanh Hau Nguyen Huu Canh. Coming from a lineage of military generals, he followed his father to fight early, achieved many feats, and was appointed Cai Co by Lord Nguyen Phuc Tan (1620 - 1687).

Full text of the stele
In the spring, February of the year of Mau Dan (1698), Lord Nguyen Phuc Chu appointed Nguyen Huu Canh as Commander-in-Chief, led troops to inspect Dong Nai , took Nong Nai Dong Pho land and established Gia Dinh prefecture, took Dong Nai as Phuoc Long district, established Tran Bien camp, took Saigon as Tan Binh district, established Phien Tran camp.
He gathered and recruited migrants, and at the same time appointed officials and soldiers to manage and organize land reclamation, set tax quotas, make land registers, and establish the sovereignty of Dang Trong.
He also led his army to attack, defeated the Champa army, changed the name of Champa to Thuan Thanh town (present-day Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan areas) and defeated the invasion of the king of Chenla. After defeating the army of Nac Thu, he calmed the people and then withdrew his troops.
He passed away on May 16, Canh Thin year (1700) at the age of 51.
Since 2020, after synthesizing opinions from departments and branches and reaching agreement on the content and form in the meeting between the Propaganda Department of the City Party Committee, the Department of Culture - Sports of Ho Chi Minh City and Mr. Cao Tu Thanh, the author of the stele; the Management Board of the National Historical - Cultural Park printed the content of the stele and pasted it with decals on the stone stele at the temple.
From 2020 to 2022, the management board will collect comments directly into the book at the temple and the board's website. Most comments agree with the content and have no further comments.

On May 23, 2023, the content of the stele was engraved on a stone stele at Nguyen Huu Canh temple.
The stele's content reads: "The Commander of the Binh Khang Le Thanh Marquis Nguyen Huu Canh, in the year of Mau Dan 1698, took the position of Commander-in-Chief and went to the South to inspect, established Gia Dinh Palace, and opened up a thousand miles of land. In the year of Ky Mao 1699, he took the position of Commander-in-Chief and went to the South to fight and suppress, the army went to the border, the enemy was strong and had to surrender. Unexpectedly, the hardship turned into illness, in the year of Canh Thin 1700, the general fell and died in the army, what a pity!

The general was born into a family of generals, was both wise and brave, and had great achievements in governing the army and the people. He was awarded by many dynasties and remembered by many generations. He was not just an ordinary brave general who charged into cities, besieged battle, beheaded generals, and captured flags.
