On February 17, the traditional fishing festival of fishermen in Da Nang city officially opened at Ha Khe Marine Park (Thanh Khe District).
The Cau Ngu Festival - a national intangible cultural heritage - is organized by Da Nang fishermen with many rich activities, lasting from February 14. This is one of the unique and long-standing festivals of the people in the central coastal region, imbued with traditional culture and beliefs, associated with the worship of Whale - the guardian god of the sea of fishermen.

The fishing festival of Da Nang fishermen was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2016. Since then, the People's Committee of Thanh Khe District has raised the level of organizing the fishing festival to the district level, with a rich scale and form, becoming a typical cultural activity, indispensable in the spiritual life of the people.

Thanh Khe District's 2025 Fishing Festival is a traditional beauty of the coastal community, associated with the whale worshiping belief.

Mr. Ho Thuyen, Chairman of Thanh Khe District People's Committee, said that this year's fishing festival includes a ceremony with traditional rituals and a festival with cultural and sports activities typical of the coastal region.
The highlight of the festival is the diverse display booths, introducing models of marine occupations, typical products; especially images of Hoang Sa, Truong Sa and OCOP products of districts in Da Nang city.
"The festival is not only an opportunity to preserve spiritual, religious, cultural and artistic values, but also contributes to strengthening community cohesion. This is also an attractive cultural meeting place for tourists to explore and experience the lives of local people and is a source of encouragement for fishermen to stick to the sea and preserve traditional cultural beauty," said the Chairman of Thanh Khe District People's Committee.
Paintings by coastal children praying for fishermen to have a successful catch and go out to sea to protect the sovereignty of the Fatherland's sea and islands are exhibited at the festival.
