On November 18, the People's Committee of Xuan Hoa Ward, Ho Chi Minh City informed about the Ngo Boat Racing Festival for the 2025 Xuan Hoa Open Cup.

This year's race will take place on November 30 on the Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe canal, from Chantarangsay Pagoda to Cong Ly bridge, in Xuan Hoa and Nhieu Loc wards, Ho Chi Minh City.

Since 2023, the festival has been held annually with its predecessor being the "Ngo Boat Racing Festival in District 3, expanded on Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe Canal". This year, the third festival officially has a new name "Ngo Boat Racing Festival for the Xuan Hoa Cup, expanded 2025" with the theme "Spreading identity, connecting the community", aiming to promote the traditional cultural values of the Khmer people in the South.

He also said that being held on Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe Canal, a revived canal, further highlights the message of "Community Connection" of the organizing committee.

This year, the expanded Ngo Boat Racing Festival for the Xuan Hoa Cup brings many new features, promising an exciting cultural and sports festival.

The racing team has expanded to include 18 Ngo boat teams from provinces in the Mekong Delta with a tradition of Ngo boat racing. The tournament will use an electronic timing system and flycam equipment to monitor and record the race track, ensuring accuracy and enhancing the experience for spectators.

For the first time, the festival will host a Southern Khmer Cuisine Zone at the Chantarangsay Pagoda area, featuring signature dishes such as vermicelli soup, round cakes and palm sweet soup. In addition, there will be traditional art performances such as Apsara dance and Robam drama.

In addition, Xuan Hoa ward will coordinate with travel companies to organize boat tours of Nhieu Loc - Thi Nghe canal on the festival day, allowing visitors to admire the race from a unique perspective.
