The Lotus Village Festival originated from the Lotus Village Singing Festival, first held in 1981 with mass cultural and artistic activities praising President Ho Chi Minh , the Party, and the homeland.
By 2002, Nghe An province elevated the festival to a provincial-level event held annually and a national-level festival held every five years on the occasion of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday.
Over the years, the Lotus Village Festival has become a prominent political and cultural event of Nghe An province, attracting a large number of locals and tourists from both within and outside the country.
The festival is not only an opportunity to express reverence and gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh, but also contributes to promoting the image of Lang Sen village, the culture of Nghe An province, and fostering tourism development associated with historical, cultural, and spiritual values.
According to the plan, the main activities of the festival will take place from May 18 to 30 with many special programs.
The event began with a flower and incense offering ceremony at the Ho Chi Minh Memorial House in the Kim Lien Historical Site and Chung Son Temple in Kim Lien commune, taking place at 2 PM on May 18th.
Later that evening, at 7:30 PM, a procession will take place carrying a portrait of President Ho Chi Minh from the Memorial House at the Kim Lien Historical Site to the Lang Sen Stadium.
The opening ceremony of the 2026 Lang Sen Festival, coinciding with the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth and the announcement of the Decision recognizing Kim Lien as a National Tourist Area, will take place at 8:10 PM on May 18th at the Lang Sen Stadium, Kim Lien Commune.
The program was broadcast live on NTV and HTV channels, featuring many artists and actors from Ho Chi Minh City and Nghe An.
The Nghe An Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is the lead agency, coordinating with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and other relevant units to organize the event.
Also on May 18th, at Ho Chi Minh Square, Truong Vinh ward will open a thematic exhibition "Commemorating 115 years since President Ho Chi Minh left to find a way to save the country".
This activity was organized by the Nghe An Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh Museum - Ho Chi Minh City Branch.
A "Countryside Market" space combining tourism experiences at Sen Village will also be organized from May 18th in Kim Lien commune, showcasing OCOP products, local cuisine, and lotus-based products for tourists.
On May 19th, an exhibition titled "80 Years Since President Ho Chi Minh's Call for National Resistance" will be held at the Nghe An - Soviet Nghe Tinh Museum, organized by the Vietnam Cultural and Art Exhibition Center under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
On the evening of May 19th, a thematic exhibition titled "The National System of Museums and Memorial Sites dedicated to President Ho Chi Minh" will be held at the Kim Lien Historical Site, combined with the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Kim Lien Historical Site. This event is organized by the Ho Chi Minh Museum in collaboration with the system of museums and memorial sites dedicated to President Ho Chi Minh nationwide.
On this occasion, the Nine-Tiered Waterfall Project, part of the cultural tourism area in Kim Lien commune, will also be inaugurated on May 18th. The project was implemented by T&T Group in coordination with the Nghe An Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The closing ceremony of the 2026 Lotus Village Festival is scheduled to take place at 8 PM on May 30th at Ho Chi Minh Square, Truong Vinh Ward, concluding a series of unique cultural and tourism activities in the homeland of President Ho Chi Minh.
