According to the official dispatch sent to relevant departments, branches and units, the decision to postpone the event was made after the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee reviewed actual conditions to ensure the most effective preparation and operation.
The Department of Tourism said it will continue to research and advise on new organization times and provide information as soon as the City People's Committee approves, in order to help units proactively coordinate in the coming time.

Previously, the 3rd Ho Chi Minh City River Festival was announced to take place from November 29 to December 31, 2025, lasting more than a month with a series of unique cultural and tourism activities along the Saigon River, canals and ports. The expected highlight is the "Signature Show - Bridge across space", a live show combining music , dance, circus and modern performance technology. The festival also has a space "on the wharf under the boat", street carnival, light art, boat racing, culinary festival and a series of events to stimulate waterway tourism, aiming to promote the image of the river city, connecting Ho Chi Minh City with neighboring localities.
The postponement to 2026 is considered necessary to ensure progress in preparing infrastructure, human resources, connecting community activities and accompanying experience programs.
