The Lunar New Year festival of Vietnam, Thailand, and China is held annually in Udon Thani province, Thailand. |
The Three Countries Tet Festival originated from the traditional Tet (Lunar New Year) customs of the Vietnamese and Chinese communities, and is supported and organized annually by the government and people of Udon Thani province, Thailand.
Over the past 20 years, the scale of the festival program has expanded, commensurate with the development of the community and the increasing need for cultural exchange and cooperation in the region.
In his opening remarks at the festival, Mr. Natthapong Khamwongpin, Deputy Governor of Udon Thani, praised the spirit of community solidarity, highlighting the traditional cultural values of Vietnam and China, which, combined with local social characteristics, create a rich and attractive Udon Thani cultural identity. This is a favorable condition for the socio -economic development of the locality, especially in cultural exchange and cooperation in investment, trade, and tourism.
Congratulating the event, the Consul General of Vietnam in Khon Kaen, Thailand, Dinh Hoang Linh, highlighted significant milestones in the trilateral relationship between Vietnam, Thailand, and China. 2025 marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China, and also the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China. 2026 will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand (September 6, 1996 - August 6, 2026).
Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh affirmed the important role of the people in building the foundation of friendly relations and cooperation between the three countries: “I would like to warmly commend the large community of Vietnamese expatriates, Chinese expatriates, and Thai people who have gathered here to make this event extremely meaningful. The glory and merit will forever belong to the people of our three countries, who have been and are working together to build a united, strong, and prosperous community, to share a bright future, a prosperous, civilized, and happy society.”
"I believe and hope that such a positive spirit will be replicated, becoming a driving force for people-to-people diplomacy, building a solid foundation and making important contributions to the peace, stability, and common prosperity of the region for the practical benefit of the people of all countries," Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh stated, expressing his confidence.
Participating in the festival for the first time, the Ho Chi Minh City art troupe presented many attractive and meaningful artistic performances, including songs celebrating the Party, praising President Ho Chi Minh, celebrating the Lunar New Year, and celebrating the friendly and cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Thailand and other international friends. Through these performances, they not only demonstrated the responsibility and concern of the Party, State, and people of Vietnam, as well as Ho Chi Minh City, towards the overseas Vietnamese community, but also showed the importance placed on friendly cooperative relations with Thailand and other countries; and the positive feelings towards the Chinese community, the people of Thailand, and international friends.
