On the evening of December 9th, the opening ceremony of the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 33) took place at the Rajamangala Stadium.

It is estimated that more than 50,000 people flocked to Rajamangala Stadium to attend this highly anticipated ceremony.

The opening ceremony of the 33rd SEA Games was a harmonious blend of traditional art, culture, and modern projection technology, creating a multi-dimensional experience that celebrated Thai identity and the unity of the 11 Southeast Asian nations.
The opening ceremony began with Chapter I, titled "Returning to the Roots." This refers to the first SEA Games, then called the SEAP Games, held in Bangkok from December 12th to 17th, 1959, with 520 athletes and delegation members from 6 countries.

Chapter II, titled "Lighting Up the Congress," opened with singer "V" Violette Wautier performing the song "1%" along with two Thai rappers, "Hero" Srimok and "Titawat" Tong Twopee" Phrueksakit.
Chapter III, titled "We Are One," features performances by Thai synchronized swimming athletes, jet skis, and flyboarders – one of the most impressive and adventurous water sports.

Following the artistic performances, the sports delegations began marching onto the field one by one, greeting regional officials and sports fans.

The Vietnamese sports delegation participating in the SEA Games consists of a total of 1,165 members, including 842 athletes. Two athletes, Le Thanh Thuy (volleyball) and Le Minh Thuan (taekwondo), were the flag bearers for Vietnam at the opening ceremony.

The Thai sports delegation has the largest number of athletes, comprising 1,535 athletes, participating in all sports of the Games.

Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul delivered the opening speech at the 33rd SEA Games.

The King of Thailand, Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua, delivered a speech, officially declaring the SEA Games open.

Following the national anthem and the raising of the host country Thailand's flag, the SEA Games 33 flag procession took place at the opening ceremony.
Taekwondo athlete Panipak Wongpattanakit, a two-time consecutive Olympic gold medalist in 2020 and 2024, was the last to carry the torch and light the sacred flame, officially marking the start of the 33rd SEA Games. A special highlight was the "green," zero-emission torch lighting ceremony.

The 33rd SEA Games took place from December 9th to 20th, featuring 50 sports and 574 events.
