On April 8, at Huu Thanh Industrial Park - Duc Hoa District, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Suntory PepsiCo Long An Factory took place solemnly. This is the 6th factory that the company has invested in Vietnam, expected to be the largest and most modern of the Group in the Asia - Pacific region.
Attending the event were former President - Truong Tan Sang; former Permanent Deputy Prime Minister - Truong Hoa Binh; Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment - Do Thanh Trung.
On the provincial side, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council - Nguyen Van Duoc; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation - Nguyen Thanh Hai; Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Van Ut and leaders of the province, departments, branches and localities attended.
The project is built on an area of 20 hectares, with a total investment of more than 300 million USD, and a capacity of 800 million liters/year. In particular, the project uses solar energy and biomass technology to replace fossil fuels; applying optimal technology to save resources, towards a green and circular economic model, effectively resonating with the strategies and sustainable development goals of Long An in particular and Vietnam in general, in order to realize Vietnam's international commitments to reduce net emissions to zero by 2050.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment - Do Thanh Trung emphasized that Suntory PepsiCo Long An factory is one of the large FDI projects in the province, expected to contribute to the socio-economic development of Long An as well as the Mekong Delta region.
The Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment respectfully requested Long An province to continue to closely direct departments, branches, sectors and investors of Huu Thanh Industrial Park, Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage Company to implement the project according to the contents that have been granted investment certificates, promptly remove difficulties and obstacles in the implementation process.
At the ceremony, provincial leaders performed the ceremony of granting investment license in Long An to Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Company, thereby affirming that the province's investment environment is truly attractive and gradually meeting the needs of large investors with international brands.
Mr. Nguyen Van Ut - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized: " With the consistent motto of always accompanying businesses, considering the difficulties of businesses as the difficulties of the province, the success of businesses as the success of the province", in Long An, Suntory PepsiCo and Investors will be given the most favorable conditions to succeed with their projects. We are committed to increasing publicity and transparency. Discipline will be tightened and inspection and supervision will be carried out regularly, especially in supporting the resolution of difficulties and problems of enterprises.
On this occasion, the leaders of Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Company presented a symbolic plaque of 500 million VND to build a clean water project for a primary school in the province.
Previously, in 2023, the company organized the planting of 6,000 trees in Duc Hoa district to spread the message of environmental protection and reduce the harmful effects of climate change./.
